Our operations assistant will oversee the daily operations of the facility, floor staff, and any other special programming throughout the fitness center, will assist with handling the Group Fitness program, and handle payroll for the staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain established facility and departmental policies, procedures, standards and objectives.
  • Adhere to Gym Rules & Regulations
  • Adhere to fitness industry code of ethics; shall not enter into gainful employment with a member or guest (i.e. do not solicit or conduct personal business with a member or guest as a private client).
  • Provide direct oversight of front desk/administration, guest services, personal training, and group fitness.
  • Handle payroll duties for staff. Work with General Manager on any payroll related or time-clock issues.
  • Provide status reports on a monthly basis, or as needed.
  • Manages Personal Training program, including developing and instructing exercise prescriptions for all populations. Sets standards with the guests, train and monitor all standards. Provides coaching/counseling for all standards.
  • Responsible for managing the personal trainers, including hiring, training and supervising on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for floor staff scheduling; covers floor, when needed.
  • Responsible for continuously upgrading policies; train new staff.
  • Consistently looking for opportunities to gain new members and elevate service levels.
  • Developing relations with the community and local small businesses by involving gym in community events.
  • Actively build a network of contacts through prospecting and referrals.
  • Attending sales and training meetings.
  • Driving retention by partnering with fitness team to introduce fitness services at point of sale.
  • Reaching and surpassing monthly sales projections.
  • Coordinate all new members with facility orientations, setting up personal training sessions, etc.
  • Maintain a client file for all active clients to include the following: Health History, Waiver, Rules & Regulations, Physician Referral (if required). Ensure all trainers files are up-to-date.
  • Respond to all member and guest concerns in a prompt, professional and courteous manner.
  • Keeps GM well-informed of any issues and/or concerns.
  • Provides 5-star service and acts as a role model/trainer for all staff. Maintain a cooperative and professional work relationship with members, guests, staff and departments.
  • Make sure trainers adhere to safety guidelines by putting away any used equipment during and after training sessions (fitness floor and exercise studios); report all unsafe/maintenance issues immediately.
  • Train all new fitness and reception staff on safety, handles all wellness safety issues for the facility, etc.
  • Ensure the Fitness Center, Exercise Studios, Office and equipment are clean, well maintained and secure. Ensure floor staff, trainers, etc. are keeping studios to standard.
  • Maintain department equipment and coordinate any needed repairs with outside vendors.
  • Responsible for maintaining records for all equipment (maintenance/cleaning) and for troubleshooting maintenance issues.
  • Recommend capital purchases and coordinate any new deliveries, moving or training on any new equipment.
  • Keep current with industry trends and make recommendations for program offerings.
  • Hold meetings with staff and attend management meetings as required (gym, reception, etc.).
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, conferences and workshops.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates, Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Management/supervisory experience
  • Minimum two years’ industry experience
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Excellent human relations skills, oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Good organization and planning skills and must be flexible and adapt easily.
  • Flexibility in work hours (some mornings, some mid-days)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged extensive standing/walking.
  • Heavy physical effort will be required on a regular basis.
  • Considerable reaching and pushing.
  • Be able to lift/carry loads up to 50lbs.

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
