How will you make an impact?
This Content Marketing Specialist - Science Writer will join the expanding Content team, within the Biosciences Division’s (BID) Integrated Customer Programs organization. While a science background is a requirement, this position does not entail technical writing (e.g. writing for application notes, protocols). Our team is looking for science writing that ties together creativity and storytelling to ensure our life science research customers are engaged and inspired from quality, scientifically sound, editorial content.
This dynamic individual will be responsible for the development and tactical execution of critical content initiatives, from videos to infographics to long and short form prose. They will be a key member managing the editorial process, integrating stories and products from across the Biosciences Division to tell our customers a well-rounded story and generate awareness and demand for Thermo Fisher Scientific innovations. They will oversee the timely delivery of thought leadership content, including sustainable science and diversity in science, as a part of the broader go-to-market strategies of our internal team members.
What will you do?
- Manage the editorial calendar and the “Connect to Science” hub on thermofisher.com, working across internal teams to create themes and narratives with content curated from a variety of sources
- Develop and complete tactical marketing plans, writing and creating high-quality and engaging content to support divisional thought leadership, sustainability, diversity in science, customer engagement and science communications
- Work with third party vendors to assist in the creation of content assets as needed
- Establish operating mechanisms to share content development plans and execution with various partners
- Coordinate with all regions to scale translation and localization efforts to continually improve customer experience
- Use analytical tools to propose data-based recommendations to team for optimization against content marketing objectives, reporting out content performance/impact to relevant stakeholders
- Assist in team operations, maintaining budget, helping organize larger partner meetings & running functional meetings.
How will you get here?
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Marketing, Journalism and/or similar degree is required.
- 5 years of experience in life sciences and/or a related field is required
- 3 years of science writing, content development/marketing experience is required
- Experience in digital, editorial and journalism preferred
- Marketing operations experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong project and time management skills and deadline driven
- Self-starter with ability to work in dynamic matrix team environment, with strong communication skills and ability to adapt quickly to change
- Knowledge of the following key competencies: 4Ps and marketing mix, marketing communication, segmentation, value proposition and marketing program development
- Strong customer focus: understanding our customers' needs, drivers and putting these at the forefront of business decisions
- Understanding of key digital media channels and how they influence customer behavior
- Takes a data-driven approach to sharing insights, optimizing strategies and piloting innovative new ideas
- Ability to travel up to 10%
