How will you make an impact?
The Procurement Supervisor will make an impact by obtaining materials using production and schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels to achieve production schedule and business goals. This position will also collaborate with planning, sourcing, quality, R&D, Product Management and other cross functional teams. Responsibilities also include optimizing inventory, managing supplier relationships, and mentoring a team of procurement professions.
What will you do?
- Supervise Direct Procurement buyer/planner activities and assignments. Support team with order placement, periodic business reviews and developing commodity and stocking strategies.
- Leads in analyzing MRP system order requirements and manages the release of planned orders ensuring they meet specifications. Utilize statistical methods, such as Re-Order Points, and best practices for FG inventory planning.
- Acts as inventory champion. Conducts stock analysis and ensures raw material / component/consignment inventory is constantly replenished in a timely manner and remains at sufficient levels.
- Assists buyers QA/QC restrictions, lead times, storage capacity and escalates possible challenges to procurement manager.
- Oversee Supplier relationship management in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Establishes strong partnerships with strategic suppliers critical to business. Evaluates vendor performance and works with Sourcing in improving vendor performance to provide a reliable supply chain.
- Executes purchase strategies and procurement programs in support production and business goals. Investigates and implements process improvements that increase productivity while reducing expenses and protecting profitability.
- Track department performance metrics (on time deliveries, Inventory levels, PPV, etc.). Support sourcing for savings initiatives.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Procurement or Supply Chain Management, or related discipline is required.
Experience
- 3-5 years of relevant Procurement experience in a manufacturing supply chain.
- Experience in supplier relationship and risk management, inventory controls, and negotiating vendor contracts.
- Relevant experience in the Life Science or Medical Device industry is preferred.
- APICS is preferred.
- Certification in CPIM or CSCP is a plus.
- Six Sigma Green / Black Belt Certification is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Strong oral and written communication, confident negotiator, and strong multitasking and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical skills combined with practical business acumen.
- Ability to thrive in a global matrix and cross-functional team environment with Operations and with internal and external customers.
- Proficiency with ERP systems SAP, JD Edwards preferred and with MRP/demand planning.
- Microsoft Windows and Office (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint).
