Unity Lab Services provides a single source for integrated lab service, support and supply management. Our customized service offerings and world-class service experts have the flexibility and experience to uniquely address our customer’s laboratory's business needs.
This position is based in Groton, CT.
Discover Impactful Work:
The position is focused primarily on scientific support services within Unity Lab Services core offerings of stockroom services, material handling, shipping/receiving, and lab support.
A Day in the Life:
- Provide shipping support; process, pack and sort packages and freight as advised
- Performs related services, such as picking up packages from designated drop off locations to be shipping, filling shipments with dry ice, cold pack, etc.
- Receipt of materials into multiple approved electronic inventory systems.
- Subdividing, repackaging and sampling of all material types, to include hazardous materials.
- Complete GxP quality inspections on incoming materials, to include but not limited to active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), Excipients, Raw Materials, Drug Substances, Controlled Substances, and Hazardous Materials.
- Maintain excellent customer service and assure on time delivery (OTD).
- Removes cardboard and trash as needed (Detrashing).
- Delivers direct shipment orders to end users.
- Lab consumables, bulk chemical, reagent, freezer, and sample inventories
- Performing electronic and physical inventory transactions for all materials.
- Provide equipment maintenance/cleaning support, including but not limited to hoods, centrifuges, processors, stainer reagents, etc.
Keys to Success:
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred but not required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Experience in laboratory setting or services preferred
- Proven customer service skills
- Computer/software skills (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Able to fluently read, write and speak English.
- Displays a high level of confidentiality for both customer and Fisher.
- Must possess a strong desire to serve the customer, and the interpersonal skills to deal with various levels of personnel at the customer site. Must maintain Thermo Fisher Scientifics’ Four-I Values
- Must possess the operating skills to use hand held scanners and learn to enter data in various systems as vital.
- May pass through areas where chemical based allergens may be in use (such as penicillin, tetracycline, etc)
- Able to lift, push and pull 30-50 pounds consistently and use material handling equipment such as push carts and pallet jacks.
- Must be able to work overtime as the need arises.
