What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Thermoforming Systems?

You will be responsible for expediting orders, materials, and documents to achieve real-time parts and order visibility status, and timely delivery supporting successful order execution and customer commitments. As well as addressing and resolving any invoicing tasks or discrepancies. You will be responsible for leading and resolving supplier non-conformances and other quality related challenges.


Gather data, analyze trends and reports on performance for various activities in the Supply Chain department. Use independent judgement to provide critical analysis. This position may also participate and assist in providing root cause analysis and corrective actions.


  • Converting requisitions to purchase orders and maintain responsibility until order has been fulfilled.
  • Manage and create purchase orders for the inventory level of commodities assigned for the position.
  • Proactively expedite orders, parts, materials, equipment, and critical documents to assure timely delivery achieving project commitments and our customers
  • Achieve regular contact with suppliers to obtain progress status updates, production schedules and evidence of meeting achievements is required
  • Provide timely updates to project teams, purchasing group, purchasing manager and inform of any possible delivery issue
  • Communicate with suppliers verbally, in writing, or in a meeting on critical issues to the organization (including but not limited to pricing, quality, on time delivery).
  • Preserve favorable impression with suppliers despite possible heightened tensions and emotions.
  • Work with the various tools available to facilitate the scheduling and on time delivery of material to support manufacturing (MRP, Production Planning, etc). .
  • Evaluate and maintain MRP for assigned items and ensure system validity and integrity
  • Coordinate incoming material to meet demand, including issuing purchase orders, expediting and managing reschedule messages to minimize inventory and maximize production flexibility
  • Participate in with purchasing team with improving supplier performance.
  • Work directly with production team on material requirements
  • Manage disposition of rejected, excess, and obsolete parts in accordance with company policy
  • Improve internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Comply with Supply Chain and Purchasing procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, manufacturing operations, business administration, or operations management or the equivalent experience
  • Self-driven, analytical, results oriented, and motivated to work effectively without direct supervision
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to interface at all levels. Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • A working knowledge of an ERP/MRP environment.
