Manages the Radiology Services to ensure the optimum performance of medical imaging, interventional and therapeutic procedures in accordance with the service and educational missions of the institution. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology. 2. Certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or NMTBC as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. 3. Licensed Radiologic Technologist in the State of West Virginia. EXPERIENCE: 1. Five (5) years of clinical experience in the radiologic sciences; two years of which must have included continuous supervisory experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Certification in the relevant Radiologic Specialty if applicable to position. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Engages in fiscal activities in order to ensure the availability of supplies, equipment, and human resources to meet the service commitment of services of each section in a timely and cost effective manner. 2. Makes recommendations for preparation of the asking budget for respective cost center annually upon notification by the director to assure cost effective operations, monitored by director supervision. 3. Spends and monitors current expense and human resource funds for respective cost center(s) cost effectively on a frequency pattern and in dollar amounts which are congruent with the section's budget and reflect cost containment and institutional cash flow, monitored through accounting documentation and director supervision. 4. Develops and implements an inventory system which meets operational needs avoiding unnecessary stock piles and waste, confirmed by annual inventory audit and monitored by director supervision. 5. Identifies and recommends new products, systems, and equipment for potential purchase or implementation in order to reduce cost, improve patient care and delivery of services, and/or maintain the state-of-the-art as needed or upon request by the director, monitored by director supervision. 6. Manages the personnel of the assigned section to ensure the availability of an appropriately credentialed, clinically competent, well-developed cohesive work force to meet the imaging, therapeutic, and educational mission of the section 7. Manages technical and support staff to ensure the optimum in providing diagnostic and therapeutic services as indicated by repeat analysis, image quality audit, service audits and/or patient follow-up, monitored by director supervision and program documentation. 8. Selects technical personnel, as positions become vacant, who are appropriately credentialed and/or licensed and who exhibit the potential to meet optimum standards for performance, patient care and guest relations, monitored by director supervision through documented staff performance. 9. Develops and implements on-going educational programs for technical and support staff through cooperative teamwork with the manager responsible for radiology education which include new employee orientation, in-service (continuing education), and new equipment and/or systems application training, enabling the staff to perform on the basis of current policy/procedures and state-of-the-art practices, monitored by director supervision through program documentation. 10. Develops the technical and support staff by promoting cooperative problem solving, positive progressive discipline, individual and group goal orientation, and the building of the esprit de corps through individual counseling, regular staff meetings, compliance with the employee performance analysis program, and active participation in the activities of the section, monitored by director supervision through associated documentation. 11. Manages section payroll verifying and validating hours worked for each employee, assuring adherence to institutional and departmental payroll policy and procedure, monitored by director supervision through financial analyst feedback and payroll documentation. 12. Assures the quality of imaging and therapeutic services and patient care through compliance with industry norms, applicable regulatory, institutional, departmental and section standards. 13. Assures that optimum image and therapeutic quality are delivered in accordance with departmental standards as exhibited by concurrent and retrospective audits and unique incidence, monitored by director supervision. 14. Assures optimum patient care in accordance with hospital and departmental policy and procedures and standards of practice monitored by director supervision through audit mechanisms, patient satisfaction surveys and unique occurrences. 15. Assures routine compliance of the section with respective regulatory, accrediting and licensing agencies' standards, monitored by director supervisions through quality of service audits and site visit findings. 16. Assures equipment maintenance by reporting malfunctions to radiology in-house maintenance personnel, providing access to equipment for evaluation, monitoring, repair, replacement, and/or calibration and by supervising technical staff to assure safe and appropriate use of equipment, monitored by director supervision through associated documentation and unique occurrences. 17. Assures implementation of departmental and section policy and procedures and revisions of same on a timely basis, monitored by director supervision through periodic assessment of operations and annual policy and procedure update schedule. 18. Maintains and improves professional, technical, and managerial competencies in order to contribute to the continued growth and development of the department, the hospital and the profession(s) of the radiologic sciences. 19. Attends conferences and meetings of professional societies and conducts classes on new knowledge as requested by the director. 20. Supports local, State and national societies/organizations representing the Radiologic Sciences through membership and participation in professional organization activities, monitored by director assessment and appropriate documentation. 21. Interacts with medical and house staff internal and external to Radiology to promote productive working relationships that enhance service and guest relations. 22. Participates in committees and task forces relative to continuing service provision and progress improvement monitored by director supervision.
