Job Posting for Electrical Construction Project Manager at Thoma Electric, Inc.
Thoma Electric, Inc. is seeking an experienced full-time Construction Project Manager to join our construction division in San Luis Obispo, California. The Electrical Construction Project Manager will be responsible for managing all administrative aspects of projects from award to completion. The Electrical Construction Project Manager will work in a variety of functional capacities on any given project to ensure high quality and efficiency of electrical construction projects. The Electrical Construction Project Manager works in a fast-paced environment and will need to be adaptable to changing project conditions while protecting the Company’s interests. Responsibilities:
Participate in pre-construction meetings and estimate reviews to ensure successful handoff from estimating to project management and to field
Prepare submittals and shop drawings, review quoted items and commodities with assistance of purchasing and estimating departments
Conduct pre-construction review planning and field staff electrician turnover
Prepare Foreman’s package (utility handout packages, copy of takeoff, etc.)
Temporary power planning and execution
Detailing and procurement of specialty, quoted, long-lead, and general project materials
Ensure compliance with project contract documents
Manage, organize, and distribute contract documents to field staff
Communicate effectively with field staff and work collaboratively to solve challenges
Assist Superintendent with manpower projections
Ensure compliance of job-site safety and cleanliness
Summarize and track time and material paperwork
Manage POs, vendor tracking, and releases
Manage and track Subcontractors
Attend jobsite meetings and visit job site to review project with field staff, as needed
Prepare and submit change orders and negotiate change orders to a conclusion with Owner and General Contractor
Compose RFIs, manage RFI logs, and review RFIs for cost impact
Prepare O&M manuals, as-built drawings, warranty letters, spare parts, etc.
Prepare and submit monthly billings with coordination between General Contractor and Accounts Receivable department
Prepare project budgets for internal tracking and maintain constant understanding of project financials
Ensure adherence to project budget via cost tracking and forecasting throughout the duration of the project
Review and understand labor reports, job cost reports, and other job-related reports and act with information presented accordingly
Assist with electrical take-offs and estimating of large projects as needed
Attend weekly staff meetings
Qualifications:
Experience and understanding of design-bid-build, design-build, and design-assist project delivery methods.
Ability to read and understand Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing drawings
Familiarity with electrical equipment, materials, and specifications
Experience with contract documents (contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendum, specifications, and change orders)
Knowledge and understanding of relevant codes such and California Title 24, California Electrical Code/NEC, Green Building Codes. LEED experience is desirable.
Knowledge of, and compliance with Local Union Labor Agreements, and State Compliance Laws/Regulations
Must maintain a proactive attitude, showing initiative and the ability to work independently
Works well with project team members to reach company goals
Strong business and project management skills
Must be able to think critically, quickly, and independently, and will be able to rely on personal judgment and/or experience to make decisions and accomplish tasks
Ability to maintain positive working relationships with general contractor personnel.
Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work in a team environment and display leadership skills
Positive attitude and customer focus
Ability to perform duties in a professional manner and appearance
Education/Experience:
Minimum of five years in the electrical construction field, with a strong knowledge of construction sequencing, construction methods, and materials practices; including knowledge of electrical systems
High School Diploma or equivalent. AA/BS in Construction Management, Business, or Engineering preferred
Proficient in the use of various software applications (Bluebeam, MS Office, etc.). Experience with BIM and estimating software is desired but not mandatory
LEED AP and OSHA 30 certification desired, but not mandatory

Pay: $95,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
