Thomas E. Strauss, Inc., is a local family-owned hospitality group. Our businesses include Miller’s Smorgasbord, Miller’s Bakery, The Quilt Shop at Miller’s, Locally Made Food Shop, Anna’s Gifts & Sundries, Plain & Fancy Farm, AmishView Inn and Suites, Smokehouse BBQ and Brews, and Plain & Fancy Country Store.
Position Summary
Actively seek group business for AmishView Inn & Suites, Miller’s Smorgasbord and Plain & Fancy Farm Restaurant, as well as events/catering for Smokehouse BBQ and Brews and other business opportunities that make sense.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Build and maintain great relationships with managers, leads, key industry partner, series partners, tour operators, group leaders, and other local businesses.
- Actively cultivate avenues of new business.
- Establish positive and efficient culture in the Sales Office.
- Ability to know and retain pricing and product information for AmishView Inn, Miller’s and Plain & Fancy, including relevant allergy information.
- Ability to know competitors’ information and propose rates that keep AmishView Inn, Miller’s and Plain & Fancy competitive and attractive to guests in a group market.
- Oversee and develop sales budget.
- Project future monthly and yearly group meals served at Miller’s and Plain & Fancy and group room nights reserved from AmishView Inn.
- Maintain current FIT contracts, adding new ones as needed. Assist with billing issues as needed.
- Update CRM and booking reservations systems, with all leads and reservations information for AmishView Inn, overseeing the same for Miller’s and Plain & Fancy.
- Oversee Group Sales Coordinator(s), assisting in day-to-day restaurant tasks, questions and troubleshooting.
- Manage day-to-day group tasks for AmishView Inn, such as lead, contracts, general hotel booking information, meeting room accommodations, group billing and follow up.
- Conduct site visits as needed.
- Coordinate specialty events as needed.
- Attend relevant tradeshows and sales missions, weighing and evaluating the worth of each show, making necessary changes as needed; always “ebbing and flowing”.
- Attend company and industry meetings as needed.
- Work with Director of Marketing as needed for internal and external marketing communications.
- Complete special projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Experience in sales leadership required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience in outside sales
- Excellent writing skills
- Solid organizational skills
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced setting
- Ability to communicate well
- Ability to work independently
- Detail oriented
