JOB SUMMARY
The Nurse Practitioner – Ambulatory Services is involved in all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations. He/She may work in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Generally, the Nurse Practitioner – Ambulatory Services performs important tasks such as educating patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments. He/she may also conduct physicals, order tests, prescribe medications per state and federal law, and may serve as a patient's primary healthcare provider.
EDUCATION
Graduate of a Graduate School of Nursing.
LICENSURE
Valid license as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of West Virginia.
EXPERIENCE
Prefer minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility/clinic in area of specialty.
CERTIFICATION
Must have met certification requirements as mandated by West Virginia state regulation and the West Virginia Board of Nursing.
Healthcare BLS validation required within 60 days of employment, with revalidation per AHA guidelines thereafter; ACLS preferred.
COMPUTER/TYPING/MATH SKILLS
Standard office and medical equipment with emphasis on electronic health records, as well as various clinical equipment that may be used to carry out the duties of the position.
Excellent computer skills are necessary to perform various job duties in the clinical area.

Knowledge of federal, state and other regulations affecting physician assistants.

Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.

Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
Ability to not deviate from scope of practice allowed by state/federal regulation
