JOB SUMMARY
The Emergency Department Nurse Educator assists the Nurse Director in planning, organizing, and supervising the nursing care administered to meet patient care needs on a twenty-four hour basis. This includes the assistance with the management of nursing personnel as well as serving as practitioner, educator, consultant and collaborator to provide advanced clinical and analytical skills. The Emergency Department Nurse Educator demonstrates an expertise in staffing models and in the allocation of staff required for the critical care nursing process in order to provide safe and effective nursing care. Continuously analyzes, evaluates, and provides for the time keeping and staffing needs of assigned units. The Emergency Department Nurse Educator has oversite for the Quality data. The Emergency Department Nurse Educator promotes an environment in which all team members can work cooperatively and functions effectively as a key player in the facility.
EDUCATION
Graduate of Registered Nursing program. BSN preferred
Initial and continuing education as listed in educational guidelines.
LICENSURE
Current WV RN license, intent to transfer to WV license from another state, or new graduate proof of intent to test. Employment in this position is contingent upon successful licensure as a RN.
Current health care provider BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC and CPI preferred.

EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated clinical competence with 3 years current nursing experience in a Health care setting with a patient population requiring cardiac monitoring.
Excellent professional, leadership and communication skills are essential.
CERTIFICATION
Heart Code BLS validation within 60 days of employment, with revalidation per AHA guidelines. Instructor status required within two years of employment
ACLS required within one year of employment, with revalidation per AHA guidelines. Instructor status required within two years of employment
PALS required within one year of employment and revalidation per AHA guidelines
TNCC required within one year of employment and revalidation per Trauma guidelines
CPI preferred within one year of employment and revalidation per guidelines.
COMPUTER/TYPING/MATH SKILLS
Must be or become familiar with the hospital computer system.
Minimal typing skills required.
JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Must possess good oral communication skills.
Must be able to communicate with all hospital contacts, both on the telephone and directly.
Ability to write reports, effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, physicians, customers and the general public.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
