FLSA Status: Non Exempt

Contract Days: 230 days

Retirement: TRS


Summary and relationship to the curriculum: All classified positions will strengthen the delivery of instruction to support the system mission statement. This position works alone and will install and maintain the electrical wiring, fixtures, and systems in buildings.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:

  • Installs and repairs electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in all buildings.
  • Installs and repairs electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in buildings.
  • Installs conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables.
  • Ensures piping complies with electrical codes.
  • Installs circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them.
  • Tests electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation.
  • Inspects electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed.
  • Replaces conduit and wiring as needed.
  • Replaces circuit breakers as needed.
  • Lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally assists plumbers and HVAC Tech's.
  • Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  1. a) Education and/or Experience: High school diploma/GED. Completion of a formal apprenticeship and valid electricians license required.
  2. b) Certificate or License Required: Valid Georgia driver's license.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.
  • Ability to use and test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be courteous and cooperate with fellow employees, students, and staff.
  • Must be conscientious, prompt, and emotionally mature.
  • Must be willing to participate in training to improve job performance .
  • Must display professional behavior when interacting with co-workers and customers.
  • Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
  • Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision, hearing, written, and verbal communications are essential factors in performing required tasks.
  • Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students particularly during emergency situations.
  • Must be physically able to perform duties assigned including moderate lifting (at least 50 lbs.), carrying, pushing and pulling, and mopping.
  • Must be able to stand and work for extended periods in varying degrees of temperature and humidity.
  • Must be capable of operating a large variety of equipment.
