The HVAC Engineer Lead will be responsible for shift coverage and must posses strong troubleshooting skills in all areas of maintenance in guests rooms, meeting spaces, front and back of house areas including kitchens, repairs and preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning and other mechanical equipment. Minimum 2 years HVAC experience.


Description:

  • Installing, maintaining and repairing ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment.
  • Refrigeration including Ice Machines and closed loop system
  • Identifying maintenance risks on equipment.
  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
  • Cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems.
  • Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
  • Providing technical direction and on-the-job training.
  • Organize and assign tasks to crew members.
  • Great communicator and Listener.
  • Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
  • Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Complying with service standards, work instructions and Hyatt requirements.
  • Assisting with guest queries.

Thompson Seattle colleagues begin accruing Vacation Time on their first day of service. At six months of service, colleagues are vested in the time they have been accruing. Full Time & Part Time Colleagues are eligible for vacation time.

      • Hire Date Through Four Years 10 Days or 80 hours
      • Five to Nine Years 15 Days or 120 hours
      • 10 years or greater 20 Days or 160 hours
  • Sick Leave:
    • Full time, part time and on-call colleagues accrue and have the right to utilize sick and safe time according to Seattle s Paid Sick and Safe Time Ordinance. As a Tier Three employer all colleagues accrue one (1) hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked starting on their hire date, however, these colleagues cannot use their accrued sick time until they have completed 90-days of employment with Hyatt
  • Extended Illness Days: unused sick and safe time in excess of 72 hours converted to Extended Illness Days at the end of each calendar year
  • Holiday Pay:
    • Full-time colleagues are eligible for holiday pay on their first day of employment. The paid holidays for eligible colleagues recognized by our hotel are: New Year s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and 2 pre-approved days for Floating Holidays.

Wage Information: This position receives service charge and additional gratuity per the guest's discretion.

Hourly role: The hourly rate for this position starts at $34.50 with an increase to $35.00 after 90 days.

Hourly roles with five-year rates: The hourly starting rate for this position is $35.00. This position also has an established rate for colleagues who remain in the position for five years, which is an additional $0.50

Hourly roles with seven-year rates: The hourly starting rate for this position is $35.00. This position also has an established rate for colleagues who remain in the position for seven years, which is an additional $0.75

Hourly roles with ten-year rates: The hourly starting rate for this position is $35.00. This position also has an established rate for colleagues who remain in the position for ten years, which is an additional $1.00


Qualifications - External

Qualifications:

  • Variable Refrigerant Flow HVAC System Training Certificate (LG Preferred)
  • High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent.
  • 3 year experience as an HVAC technician, and willingness to continue education in HVAC field.
  • Valid driver s license.
  • Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration and heating.
  • Working knowledge of boiler systems, cooling towers.
  • Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in reading schematics and work plans.
  • Ability to work after hours, over weekends and on holidays.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
