The Materials Procurement Manager is responsible for implementing a commodity procurement and inventory strategy that supports the company’s manufacturing supply chain. Supporting the operation in the food manufacturing facility by keeping all equipment and machinery maintained and repaired, as well as general facilities maintenance.

Since 1989, we have been manufacturing and distributing delicious, all-natural dog treats to dog loving pet parents through our boutique dog bakeries and through popular Food/ Drug/ Mass/Pet Specialty/Ecommerce retailers in the United States and Canada.

Responsibilities

• Lead, inspire, and develop a team of two to three procurement professionals to ensure the seamless flow of materials.
• Identify and cultivate relationships with suppliers who share our commitment to quality ingredients.
• Stay ahead of market trends, pricing fluctuations, and ingredient availability to make informed and strategic procurement decisions.
• Oversee bidding and contract negotiations to obtain the best pricing to meet product
• Analyze inventory levels, manufacturing schedules, and long-term business objectives to plan and manage
• Work closely with our production team to streamline supply chain operations and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards governing the purchase and delivery of goods.

Qualifications

• Background in materials procurement (5-10 years), preferably in the food or pet industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, related field or equivalent work experience.
• Software experience required. NetSuite proficient or equivalent a plus.
• Proven experience leading and motivating a team.
• Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to secure favorable terms and pricing from suppliers.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attentive to detail with a focus on ensuring ingredient quality.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic manufacturing environment.
• Friendly and professional demeanor.
• A genuine love for dogs and a dedication to delivering the highest quality treats.
