Three Dog Brands is seeking a  Plant Operations Supervisor who will be at the forefront of our manufacturing operations, leading a team with a steadfast focus on safety, quality, team culture, and continuous improvement. Your role is integral in ensuring the seamless execution of production processes while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.  An integral aspect of your responsibilities will involve ensuring that associates under your supervision are well trained to execute their tasks safely and effectively. Emphasizing mentorship will be pivotal, and actively supporting a culture of teamwork and collaboration will be a primary focus.

 

This full-time position is performed under the 3rd shift: Sunday-Thursday, 10:30pm-7:00am.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Adhere to established safety protocols and guidelines while performing leadership operational duties.
  • Uphold a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with colleagues and visitors.
  • Ensure adherence to the overall safety, quality, and packaging requirements within all areas.
  • Contribute positively to the culture of continuous improvement and team involvement.

PRIMARY TASKS AND DUTIES

  • Oversee the safe operation and maintenance of all equipment, maintaining required output rates during the designated shift. This includes all machinery and tools within the plant.
  • Ensure production schedules and requirements are met in regards to customer orders and company needs.
  • Uphold cleanliness standards, minimizing waste during equipment operation.
  • Complete necessary paperwork including documentation of meetings and required training.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of employee time, encompassing absences and punctuality throughout the shift.
  • Perform equipment maintenance to ensure machinery continues to operate efficiently and effectively.
  • Properly escalate and report maintenance issues, potential hazards, or areas for improvement to the relevant personnel.
  • Recommend, and implement, process improvements while involving other to promote a positive culture rooted in accountability and ownership.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Safety Awareness: Champion a safety-first culture by enforcing and promoting strict safety protocols and guidelines.  Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, addressing and resolving potential hazards promptly.  Adhere to and promote a safety-first culture by following established safety protocols and guidelines.  
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the execution of all plant production tasks with meticulous attention to detail to maintain and improve product quality.  Collaborate with the quality control team to implement quality improvement initiatives.  Report any deviations or defects promptly and work collaboratively with the quality control team.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Lead and oversee the entire production process during your shift, ensuring associate adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and packaging schedules.  Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Throughput and Operational Excellence: Meet and exceed all production targets/KPI’s.  Identify opportunities for process optimization to enhance efficiency and throughput.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement and champion continuous improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence.  Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at optimizing processes and reducing waste.
  • Team Development: Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the skills of team members.  Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the packaging team.
  • Communication and Coordination: Communicate effectively with team members, managers, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination in all production processes.  Facilitate regular team meetings to share insights, address challenges, and discuss improvement opportunities.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including output, quality metrics, and safety incidents.  Prepare and submit reports on key performance indicators and packaging efficiency.
  • Problem Solving: Lead root cause analysis efforts for production issues and implement corrective actions.  Encourage a proactive approach to problem-solving within the shift.
  • Material Handling: Ensure the proper handling and storage of raw materials and finished products.  Collaborate with the warehouse team to maintain organized storage areas.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in all aspects of your work, including communication, collaboration, and behavior.  Uphold a positive and collaborative team environment that reflects our commitment to professionalism.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Time Management: Effective time management skills to complete assigned tasks within specified timeframes.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high safety, quality, and cleanliness standards.
  • Communication Skills: Basic communication skills to interact professionally with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and willingness to take on various production tasks.
  • Reliability: Consistent attendance and punctuality to ensure the continuity of all production processes.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, or additional hours as required for special projects or events.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of production processes, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Understanding of production processes and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to read and communicate in English.
  • Must be able to handle different ingredients such as allergens (peanuts) and different proteins including pork products.
