Job Title: Transportation Supervisor
Job Location: 4190 N. Pecos Road, Las Vegas
Immediate Supervisor: Operations Logistics Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Purpose

The Transportation Supervisor will assist in the supervising of all Three Square Drivers with the emphasis on Safety, Compliance, Training and Time Management. Oversee the scheduling of pick-ups, create efficient delivery routing solutions, provide backup delivery support, develop and implement driver training, manage transportation software and systems. Manage all vehicle maintenance and repairs, and ensures compliance with all state and federal transportation and food safety regulations.

Essential Job Functions

· Manage D.O.T. compliance program for drivers & vehicles within all means of Safety.

o Comply with all DOT documentation requirements.

o Comply with medical card & driver classification (A/B) being current.

o Comply with vehicle maintenance expectations & requirements.

o Comply with & ensure all pre/post trip inspections are completed with the drivers daily.

o Comply with all load securing procedures.

o Comply with all hours of service requirements.

o Comply with all bill of lading / manifest / invoice of load carried & weight requirements.

· Adhere to all food safety requirements and expectations for all deliveries & pickup of food that will be transported by our fleet.

· Supervise, train, and evaluate Three Square Food Bank Drivers in order to execute the workload on a daily basis.

· Participate in various administrative duties & performance management. Included but not limited to:

o Coaching ( /-) feedback

o Appraisals

o Payroll

o Invoice processing

o Truck vendor management

o Daily planning

o Meetings (internal & external)

o Conflict resolution

· Provide a high level of customer service to both internal (Three Square Team) & external (Agencies, Donors, Vendors) customers.

· Resolve delivery and pick-up issues as they arise and strive to proactively dissolve problems prior to escalation.

· Assist in loading and unloading of trucks to ensure prompt departures / deliveries of orders or pick-ups of donations.

· Work across multiple departments within Three Square to ensure there is an efficient flow in executing the expectations of deliveries and donation pickups.

· Uphold the company’s non-disclosure and confidentiality policies & agreements.

· Work evening, weekend and holiday work hours as required.

· Possess a strong “can do” demeanor and willingness to promote a positive outlook for the department.

· Carry out driver responsibilities in the event of absences or emergencies deliveries, events and donation pickups.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Manage confidential information.

· Regular & consistent attendance.

· A strong focus on housekeeping, documentation, sanitation & food safety processes must be upheld and is essential for the success of Three Square with various inspections by AIB, USDA, SNHD & Feeding America.

Abilities

Requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally, in writing, and aid in presentations that may include technical information, establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Ability to supervise multiple projects with strong attention to detail, handle interruptions, maintains focus on tasks; ability to train on the use of various powered equipment; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and the general public.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in the warehouse, subject to varying; requires standing, repetitive movement, bending or twisting, using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; walking and running, contact with others (face-to-face, by telephone or otherwise), face-to-face discussions with individuals or teams; exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable, repeating the same physical activities or mental activities over and over. Job tasks are performed in close proximity to other people.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform work in a warehouse; may be exposed to fumes or dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and moderate to loud noise levels; may sit and/or stand for extended periods, walk, bend at the waist and knees, kneel and uses hands, arms and legs for dexterity, balance and climbing stairs frequently. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time; regularly lift, carry, and balance objects weighing up to 70 pounds; pull and push such objects as file drawers and supplies; prioritize and multi-task work and projects requiring good memory, concentration and analytical thinking. Will be required to perform the safe operation of office equipment and machines, and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace. The noise level in the work environment varies and can be considered moderate.

Qualifications

Minimum of two years transportation supervisory experience or relative driving experience of at least 5 years. Any combination of educational and work experience that would be equivalent to the minimum requirements would qualify for consideration of this position. Must possess a valid CDL-A preferred, CBL-B license required; knowledgeable on D.O.T. and Food Safety regulations and requirements; familiar with vehicle maintenance, operation.

Knowledge

Required:

· State and federal regulations concerning delivery drivers and vehicles (DOT, NDOT, FMSCA)

· Effective understanding of core departmental safety and provide training for employees in driver safety, power and manual equipment operation, customer service and safe food handling practices.

· State and federal laws concerning food safety standards and the safe delivery practices

· OSHA regulations to establish safety policies and procedures for fleet operations, driver safety.

· Comprehensive knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of large-scale operations.

Tools: Calculators, desktop computers, scanners, copiers, fax and phone systems.

Technology: Intermediate skills with Microsoft Windows and Office environment (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) Lytx, Geotab and standard office equipment.

Other: Safe driving record, CDL-A, CDL-B, ServSafe Food Handler, current vehicle insurance and the ability to use their personal vehicle for business at off-site locations. Employee must be able to pass a criminal background check, and drug and alcohol screening.
