JOB SUMMARY:
US Housing Components is a local prefabrication company located in Buckner, Kentucky that manufactures wooden trusses and wall panels for multi-family homes and hotels. The Component Designer utilizes AutoCAD software tools to design the structural building components from architectural plans and specifications including wood floor trusses, roof trusses, and/or wall panels. Other duties include creating prototypes, layouts and models for product components, a system, or a manufacturing process using CAE tools; performing analysis to find flaws or inefficiencies in designs and to model solutions; collecting and assembling data; other duties as assigned by a manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
- Design/Drafting experience
- Experience using design software
- AutoCAD software experience (preferred)
- Experience in prefabrication or facility construction industry
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- The ability to multi-task/work on three to four projects concurrently
- High degree of self-motivation and independent decision making
- Proven work experience as a Drafter/Designer in a similar role
- Proficient in MS Office Applications
- Work independently from verbal instructions from managers and team
- Understands Design Principles
- Strong math skills
- Work well with all departments
- Time-management skills
