Summary
The Group Practice Associate will partner closely with the Group Practice Directors, with input from our Group Vice Presidents to ensure focus practices are driving productivity, practice management, teaming, succession, advice, and balanced sales growth. This position will also work closely with the COEs to align strategically to achieve our One Big Goal to significantly grow its businesses and client base. This role is responsible for achieving Thrivent’s growth goals for protection sales (ANBP) and accumulations sales (GDC), advisor productivity, increasing teams, and ensuring practice protection with succession planning. The role will primarily focus on lower complexity and modest revenue volume practices with ample room to grow and serve more clients better—the middle-tier of Thrivent’s Advisor Groups.
This role will serve our Northeast Advisor Group.
Job Description
A successful Group Pr actice Associate will:
Foster and support the practice and productivity growth, teaming, and succession of experienced f inancial advisors (5 years) in both individual and team practices. The position will be accountable for growing target practices ( focus ed on the middle practice productivity tier s as part of a segmentation strategy ) , as determined by the COE, GPD and GVP) , fostering teaming, growing teaming, and increasing succession. Key practice management components such as client service models, salesforce usage, and adding l everage to a practice will be foundational to the role.
Skillfully coach others and encourages collaboration between advisors across tenure, productivity levels through peer-to-peer forums, one-on-one coaching and regional meetings. Foundational practice management and teaming knowledge is critical.
Be deeply committed and knowledgeable of Thrivent’s advice and solutions. She/he will partner with the GPD to align and deliver team results on a consistent advice experience and implement product solutions, both protection and investments.
Assists in regional capacity growth by focusing on the retention of veteran advisors and coaching FPs on adding additional advice-providing capacity to their practices . Building strong relationships with focus advisors and teams will also allow for receiving referrals for advisor candidates.
Assists in identifying the need to form and add to teams, sourcing candidates onto teams, interviewing and selection for target practices.
Builds collaborative relationships with the National Practice Group, Advisor Growth, Ad for vice and Wholesaling Centers of Excellence and other regional leaders with attention to strategic alignment and local Group veteran advisor needs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coach and m otivate the middle-tier of v eteran advisors /practices to Higher Productivity and Team Practice Growth:
Coach veteran practices and cultivate a positive and productive veteran advisor culture that results in increased productivity (sales, revenue, new clients, practice leverage and building team structures).
Coach and support the middle-tier of veteran advisors /practices on exploring and executing on more advanced team models in partnership with the Practice Growth Center of Excellence.
Assist veteran advisors in achieving strong advice implementation results and balanced production across product lines. Partner with the Wholesaling COE to drive appointment activity, more implemented advice and advisor recognition and revenue metrics .
Build the case for change to h elp middle-tier veteran practices increase professionalism and deliver an exceptional client experience through Purposeful Advice framework.
Be available and proactive to support target veterans /practices with a business plan ning process and goals through an efficient contact approach; coach and provide tools as needed to ensure their success. Create and execute strategies to help veteran advisors build more productive practices through foundational practice management concepts including book management, client service models, adding staff positions, revenue growth initiatives deepening client relationships, etc. Act as a sounding board and problem solver for vet eran advisors on issues that arise.
Foster a culture that promotes personal growth and development by uncovering personal motivations and applying effective coaching techniques and conflict management skills when needed.
Encourage and support cooperation with veteran advisors in working with new advisors (joint field work and book management). Recognize and praise collaborative contributions and accomplishments.
Coach appropriate vet eran advisors /practices on succession planning to help ensure smooth transitions of their clients and business. Partner with the Succession Team in the Practice Growth COE.
This position will collaborate with Group Practice Directors, Group Vice Presidents and the Practice Growth COE to identify mutual interest productivity strategies that will help achieve Thrivent’s One Big Goal.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with the Group Practice Directors, Practice Growth, Advice and Wholesaling COEs and Group leaders to strategically partner on practice management, teaming , and revenue goals with particular emphasis on Life/Health/Annuity implementation through Purposeful Advice.
Assist in recruiting, capacity , and retention efforts for the Group by building trusting relationships with vet eran advisors leading to team launch of new advisors and referrals.
Demonstrate ability to use practice management tools and technology effectively with vet eran advisors and others to assist in coaching.
This position will regularly communicate, need to influence, and inspire veteran advisors, teams, and staff.
Strong two-way partnerships with Regional Groups and COEs (Wholesaling/Sales Support, National Practice Group, Advisor Growth, Advice among others) .
Build and maintain crucial partnerships within Thrivent Corporate: IT/systems, Marketing, Wholesaling/Sales Support and Advice COEs.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Four - year college degree strongly preferred.
Minimum 2 years coaching financial advisors
Experience in using the Thrivent’s Purposeful Advice platform, Salesforce and other Thrivent tools and systems ( i.e. CAP, Illustrations, etc.) and ability and willingness to model, promote and demonstrate usage of tools as needed.
Expertise with foundational practice management topics: client service models, adding staff/new advisors to a team or solo practice, model office, etc.
Ability to present and facilitate large and small groups in order to drive understanding of concepts and practices that lead to veteran advisor success.
Ability to utilize technology ( i.e. Pareto, salesforce, Power BI analytics) to connect with and coach vet eran advisors.
Professional designation or history of significant progress toward achievement preferred.
FINRA Series 7, 63/65 or 66 required or obtained within 90 days.
Satisfactory background check and clean compliance record.
Flexibility to travel within the region (may include overnight) and conduct business during evening hours.
