Job description

Thrust Flight, a fast-growing flight training and aircraft maintenance company in Addison, Texas is seeking an experienced accountant who can transition into a controller role within the next 12 months. Thrust Flight, established in 2006, is a young and energetic company that trains future airline pilots and operates a fleet of over 25 aircraft.

This position will be responsible for ensuring the proper and complete recording of financial transactions and reporting thereon. This includes monitoring and reviewing transactions entered by operational departments, payroll processing, sales and property tax compliance, periodic reporting, reconciliations, accounts payable and all other accounting and financial compliance areas.

Specific Duties:

  • Review customer invoices, receipts and credit card transactions
  • Verify cash receipts and make bank deposits
  • Pay supplier invoices in a timely manner
  • Ensure that receivables are collected promptly
  • Generate recurring billings
  • Process payroll every other week
  • Prepare monthly sales tax reports and file with taxing authorities
  • Perform bank and merchant account reconciliations
  • Prepare periodic financial and performance reports
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Maintain the annual budget and develop forecasting for critical metrics
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
  • Develop and document accounting processes and procedures as needed
  • Lead monthly financial results meeting for senior executives
  • Provide other support to senior management as requested

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification a plus
  • CPA Certificate a plus
  • Experience in the aviation industry a plus
  • Ability to coordinate multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Detail oriented with strong organization & analytical skills
  • Superior interpersonal, communication, and client service skills
  • Judgement skills to ask appropriate questions as needed to perform tasks correctly
  • Attendance/Punctuality – Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent
  • Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Keeps commitments; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan
  • Experience conducting research and using spreadsheets, databases and other business tools
  • Demonstrates a high level of proficiency, and acute attention to detail
  • Follows-through and requires little direction

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Preferred candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance and a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in an accounting position with emphasis on accounting related duties
  • 3 or more years of experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable & General Ledger
  • Has strong experience with QuickBooks Enterprise, Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Docs and Sheets
  • Prior experience handling sensitive/confidential information
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal (writing sample will be requested)
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Individual will be self-motivated, self-directed, and resourceful
  • Possess good research skills
