The Senior Developer programs and configures software to meet TIAA business needs. Under limited supervision, this job identifies and analyzes business software needs, writes complex code to optimize the performance and efficiency of the organization's IT platform/infrastructure and conducts testing to ensure programs are functioning properly. This job is considered a subject matter expert in the Applications Development & Support area. Key Responsibilities and Duties Interprets written business requirements and technical specification documents to design and develop advanced technical solutions that meet business needs in financial industry. Reviews technical feasibility of adopting external cloud based IT platform and infrastructure services within the organization. Leads the identification of portions of the organization's IT platform/infrastructure with the highest potential return for cloud deployment. Facilitates implementation of the organization's global strategies and initiatives to enhance Information Technology plans, operations and procedures. Collaborates with IT and Business partners to design, develop, and troubleshoot end to end technical solutions. Performs complex coding to written technical specifications. Tests the resulting coding components in accordance with company standards and as defined in approved testing plans. Investigates, analyzes and documents reported defects – raising issues as appropriate. Analyzes run time profiles to debug errors that may exist. Solves complex defects that arise through own work or the work of others Performs maintenance programming and correction of identified defects. Leads the cost/benefit evaluation of cloud solutions compared to virtual private networks, dedicated hosting, and in-house solutions. The team’s mission is to provide IT assistance, guidance, and delivery of client transitions projects (Asset Takeovers, Deconversions, bulk money movement events). The team will build and execute custom-to-the-client code to deliver best-in-class service for these transition projects. This is highly dynamic client focused delivery that requires a person who can adapt to change, work flexible hours to support client transitions, and deliver excellence first time, every time Responsibilities: Interpret specifications, develop, and test COBOL code to create Omni transactions required to convert indicative and financial data from external record keepers to Omni platform, or complete internal bulk transactions (money move, enrollment, etc.) Execute Omni Batch edit and post processes. Identify and resolve errors Analyze functional needs and develop error free code – first time Analyzes complex mapping and plan constructs to develop application components Work collaboratively with IT analysts and business Data Leads Required Skills: 5 or more years of experience as proficient COBOL Developer within a mainframe environment 3 or more years of working in the Defined Contribution industry/Retirement industry 3 or more years of experience working with SunGard’s Omni DC Recordkeeping System Experience working in a mainframe environment, including knowledge of JCL, VSAM, IBM utilities, etc Must have extensive experience with Omni DC transaction and batch processing Must have extensive experience with Omni Admin Web Must have extensive experience with SunGard's Omni DC package Proven ability to work effectively in a virtual team Ability and willingness to work outside of regular business hours as necessary to meet client commitments Preferred Skills: Microsoft VBA/Excel skills Proficiency with OmniScript Proficiency with mainframe DB2 & CICS Related Skills Agile Methodology, Continuous Integration & Deployment, Data Analysis, Debugging, DevOps, Enterprise Application Integration, Operating Systems Management, Problem Solving, Programming, Software Development, Software Development Life Cycle, Web Application Development Base Pay Range: $86,300/yr. - $155,100/yr. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
