What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobile Mental Health Clinician position at TIBURCIO VASQUEZ HEALTH CENTER INC.?

As part of the integrated health model of Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center (TVHC), the Mobile Mental Health Clinician will play an essential role in The Hayward Evaluation and Response Teams (HEART) Program. The HEART program is a pilot project to establish a Mobile Integrated Health Unit (MIHU) pairing a Hayward Fire Department Community Paramedic with a TVHC mental health clinician. The Integrated Mobile Clinician will work alongside the Hayward Fire Department to respond to less acute 911 calls. The goal is to improve access to medical, mental health and other support services and reduce the need for police officers to intervene in calls for service involving people experiencing mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness.
This is a full-time benefited position working 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday with periodic Saturday hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and customer service standards.
  • Clearly communicate and collaborate with all members of the Mobile Integrated Health Unit
  • Conduct brief, non-stigmatizing screenings to evaluate the needs of community members for mental health and support services.
  • Provide crisis de-escalation and crisis management services as needed
  • Help provide linkage to community resources and all needed services (e.g. medical, mental health, dental)
  • Perform brief assessments for mental health, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, domestic violence and medical needs. Conduct follow-up as appropriate.
  • Provide brief behavioral health engagement services in the community utilizing such techniques as motivational interviewing, harm reduction, problem-solving therapy, behavioral activation, and other Evidenced-Based Practices, in a culturally, linguistically, and age-appropriate manner.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary collaborative meetings, staff meetings and other processes to achieve program development, program evaluation and review, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding privileged administrative and patient information in a professional manner.
  • Perform all duties for successful electronic health records maintenance including, but not limited to, completion of client/patients records after each visit according to established protocol, coding, and signing off charts within the designated time set by the organization.
  • Perform all duties and service in full compliance with TVHC’s Service Excellence Standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or Psychology required. Licensure in good standing (e.g. LPCC, LCSW, LMFT)
  • Minimum 1 year of job-related experience.
  • Position requires ability to work independently, organize tasks, problem-solve, make decisions, and handle multiple priorities.
  • Position requires significant interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with multiple parties
