Responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Completion of a respiratory education program supported by CoARC or JRCRTE or accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs required, required.
- Associates degree, required.
- Bachelors/Masters degree, preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years progressive supervisory experience in a healthcare setting, required.
- Prior experience with specific hospital based inpatient & outpatient service care and delivery, required.
- Prior experience with CMS/Joint Commission regulatory standards with acute knowledge of standards and guidelines, preferred.
License/Certification:
- Currently licensed and in good standing as a RCP with the SC State Board of Medical Examiners (NCBME), required.
- Currently registered and in good standing as a RRT with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), required.
- ACLS, required.
- American Heart Association Healthcare provider course with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required to be initially completed with the TH Organizational Development Office within 30 calendar days of hire date (exceptions to obtain certification from a provider other than the TH Organizational Development Office are approved by TH Organizational Development on a case by case basis). BLS Recertification is required every two (2) years.
- PALS/NRP, preferred.

- Near visual acuity required to work with charts and records and observe patients and staff.
Physical Requirements: Medium Physical Agility Test rating (PAT)
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. Working conditions include possible exposure to radiation hazards, electrical hazards, infectious and contagious diseases, and blood and body fluids pathogens. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, lifting and walking.
Position Summary: The Manager of Respiratory Therapy must have knowledge in basic management principles and interpersonal communications. Directs and coordinates activities of the Respiratory Therapy department. Ensures that the Mission and Vision Statement and expectations of TH are met. Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures and common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Must possess skills in identifying problems and recommending solutions, preparing and maintaining records and written reports, and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, hospital, medical staff and the public. Must have the ability to analyze solutions and apply critical thinking. Must demonstrate strong leadership skills and assist with team development in areas of continuous quality improvement and team performance.
