Department & Team Overview
The Reporting and Analytics group is a component of TIFF’s Operations Department alongside the Fund Operations group. The groups core functions include internal/external investment reporting, producing routine and ad-hoc analytics on TIFF’s investment portfolios and client solutions, and maintaining the data and systems that support this work. The Reporting group functions as key support for TIFF’s Investment & Risk Teams, providing portfolio positioning and exposure data used in decision making on our investment products. The group also provides the Client Strategy Team the critical data-oriented content needed to service end clients. Sitting between TIFF’s Investment Teams and Client CIO Group, the Reporting & Analytics group plays a critical role in disseminating accurate information on TIFF’s mandates and providing subject expertise and analytical capability to support the firm.
Position and Responsibilities
The Investment Data Analyst will assist in the validation and maintenance of data on TIFF’s vehicles and customized portfolios across various systems, leveraging this data to calculate and produce analytics and reporting. The position is a junior role on the team. Commensurate with experience and growth, this role will also take on analytics and reporting of increased complexity and importance.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to.
- Support the routine reporting and analytics needs of several key clients on a monthly, quarterly basis – construct, maintain and distribute detailed materials on portfolios and develop a strong understanding of each client’s portfolio and relationship dynamics
- Assist with oversight of various performance, holdings and exposure data within our internal systems (Solovis, Factset, Canoe, and proprietary systems)
- Support ongoing improvements to our analytics platforms and technology systems, while maintaining consistency of reporting quality
- Collaborate across departments to source opportunities to add value across internal/external reporting and enhance the data management processes in place
- Maintain and distribute weekly internal portfolio monitors and attribution reports
- Maintain and distribute analytics-oriented materials for client presentations and other external reporting such as Factsheets and performance reports
- Support in the calculation of ad-hoc analytics related to consolidated performance, attribution, risk, asset allocation, and exposure in support of client requests or business development
- Communicate cross-functionally across departments such as Investments/Risk, Finance, Compliance, and Member Strategy on gathering data and developing analytics for various ad-hoc requests.
- Provide guidance to junior members of the team on best practices and process improvement
- and performance analysis.
- Self-starter with proven skill in evaluating open-ended requests and developing effective solutions
- Must be comfortable assembling or learning to assemble all aspects of a deliverable, from manually sourcing raw portfolio data to putting together the calculations and assembling a final exhibit.
- Ability to scope needs and work with disparate data sources to construct custom analysis.
- Strong understanding of performance measurement and investment analysis concepts
- Data-driven, analytical, with the ability to construct models and tools for calculations and distill results in concise and informative ways.
- Excellent attention to detail with ability to multi-task across short- and long-term projects and prioritize work.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, and comfortable working across different technology platforms or third-party systems to source data
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with Factset, Bloomberg and/or a portfolio management software like Solovis, Addepar, Kurtosys etc. is welcome, but not required.
