What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Educational Assistant, 7.5 hrs/day, 182-day calendar position at TILLAMOOK SD 9?
Perform a variety of instructional duties assisting a licensed staff member in the implementation of a specific program for individual students or small groups.
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Behavior management techniques.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively with students, parents and teachers.
- Ability to follow general oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in task performance.
- Ability to meet the “Highly Qualified“ paraprofessional requirements (*below for more info)
- Ability to pass a Criminal Background/fingerprint check ($66 fee)
ESTIMATED START DATE: August 23, 2024 – New staff orientation
WAGES:
- 2024/25 Salary Schedule currently in negotiations – (2023/24 pay scale $14.94 – $16.49/hr)
- Placement is dependent on years of experience and per the OSEA Agreement

Tillamook School District requires that all paraprofessionals be “Highly Qualified”. There are 3 ways you can meet these requirements.
- Possess an associate’s (or higher) degree, or
- Complete two years of study at an institute of higher education with a minimum of 72 quarter college credits or 48 semester college credits, or
- Pass a local assessment test demonstrating basic knowledge of reading, writing and mathematics skills. (Accuplacer)
