Position Details A Field Technician for the ESS (Engineering Shared Services) department is responsible for conducting all field activities for telecommunications projects, with work functions including, but not limited to Desktop Feasibility Analysis on Google Earth, pole, Aerial & UG surveys, OSP field engineering, and other tasks as assigned. Position includes full ownership of the task, schedule, and deadlines. Takes direction from Senior ESS Field Support & Project management. The position is primarily in the field with minimal time focused on administrative tasks. Initially, this position will be local to the Phoenix/AZ markets. However, traveling to multiple markets around the United States will also be required, up to 100% of the time. Responsibilities Participate in field survey to support conduit licensing across multiple utilities. Including but not limited to Aerial, UG, Wireless & Wired Utility data collection. Participate in joint ride-outs with utilities, as required. Participate in Lite Construction & Inspection support. Communicate directly with senior techs, field & project management Manage competing clients, projects, and schedules with attention to deliverable completion and deadlines. Understand all applicable codes, design, and construction standards per project. Take ownership to seek out and understand the guidelines, review pole attachment agreements and NESC code. Process all fielding in required forms or formats for hand-off or client deliverable. Must have a general understanding of accounting/invoicing processes. Qualifications Must reside within 1 hour of a major airport High school diploma or equivalent. A college degree is highly preferred. Ability to use smartphones, tablets, applications, and web-based programs to complete field or desktop surveys and upload results daily Surveying and field experience a plus Strong computer skills are a must Comfort with Google Earth Strong Microsoft Excel skills are a must Attention to detail is a must Wireless experience is preferred Excellent verbal and written communication with ESS & Project management RF experience is preferred Aerial & UG utility experience preferred Ability to work flexible hours Travel to other markets may be necessary Valid driver’s license We accomplish our mission with a team of experts working collaboratively on meaningful, impactful projects for our clients.
