What are the responsibilities and job description for the AutoCAD Designer position at Timber Systems?
Timber Systems is seeking a full-time AutoCAD Designer to join our team!
As an AutoCAD Designer, you will be a part of a team that works with engineering, project management, and the contract documents to understand the requirements of the project and turn them into accurate 3D models, and detailed 2D technical drawings. These drawings are used at all stages of a project, including approval, procurement, manufacturing, and installation.
AutoCAD Responsibilities
- Create 3D models of timber structures, including accessory components.
- Create 2D layouts of each part number and maintain associated bill of materials (BOM)
- Checking of models, drawings, and BOM’s created by yourself and others
- Adhere to industry and company standards for timber construction
- Accountability and delivery on deadline commitments
- Save models, marked drawings, notes, and other documentation on company network
- Foster a positive team environment by assisting co-workers
- Perform other duties as assigned
AutoCAD Skills
- AutoCAD for 3D models
- AutoCAD for 2D drawings
- Application of appropriate tolerances (including GD&T), fits, surface finishes
- Basic mathematical skills, as well as calculation of fits and tolerance stack-ups
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques
- Professional communication in person and by phone and email with colleagues, suppliers, and customers
- Self management skills including taking notes and maintaining a personal action item list
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Attention to detail – ensuring quality working products
Education
- High School Diploma
- Technical or vocational is a plus
AutoCAD Experience
- Minimum of 2 years in related field
No Outrageous Hours
We rarely work more than 40 hours per week. There may be times where things get busy and people put some extra time in, but then they take some extra time off, so it all balances out. We work hard and smart but we’re in this for the long haul.
