JOB SUMMARY:
South Seas Island Resort is seeking an experienced Director of Rooms Division to join our Leadership Team.
As Director of Rooms, you would be responsible for directing and administering the operations of key guest contact departments in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Primary focus is to provide senior leadership skills overseeing the Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Services and PBX departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate the organization and administrative functions in all areas of the Rooms Division
- Ensure total compliance with standards of operation
- Participate in all meetings as required
- Handle all guest complaints expeditiously to complete resolution
- Manage projects as required by hotel management
- Review and analyze market trends globally and locally in order to keep current
- Coordinate the efficient operation of the Rooms departments daily
- Ensure that all colleagues are in total compliance with all standards of operation and service standard requirements
- Hold managers/colleagues accountable for their performance and adherence to standards
- Review all customer comments and feedback relating to the Rooms Division, ensure immediate action is taken and ensure solutions to prevent future dissatisfaction are implemented
- Carry out inspections of rooms, public areas and back of house areas on a regular basis to ensure that high standards are always maintained
- Ensure that staffing is maintained at an appropriate level to match business demand.
- Oversee Rooms candidate selection and staffing
- Oversee staff performance of all Rooms colleagues
- Complete ownership for the ongoing training requirements in the division
- Ensure that disciplinary procedures are undertaken fairly and in accordance to hotel policies
- Comply with and enforce hotel grooming and uniform standards with all colleagues
- Ensure all guests are being treated in an efficient and courteous manner and that all standards are being applied
- Train, coach, and lead by example so that all staff are equipped to promote services and ensure strong financial performance
- Responsible for maintaining consistent and high-quality hotel experience
- Ensure all Housekeeping quality standards are complied with, and that policies and procedures are consistently applied
- Assist in the daily maintenance of room inventory status to achieve optimal levels of revenues while maintaining high levels of guest expectations
- Work in conjunction with accounting to care for account receivables, cash handling policies, credit report and revenue adjustments
- Maintain proper par levels throughout division and oversee monthly inventories
- Make decisions and monitor the elements that determine profit and loss
- Make decisions that relate to profit and loss, measure results against financial projections and goals
- Ensure compliance with regulations and best business practices
- Oversee scheduling and labor budget
- Develop skills to become property expert with PMS and additional service software at resort
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) or greater years previous hotel experience with a progressive leadership experience in the Rooms Division
- Current valid driver’s license required.
- 4 year post High School education preferred
