Responsibilities
- Perform mental health assessments and create treatment plans
- Deliver individual or group therapy sessions
- Apply evidence-based therapeutic techniques
- Evaluate clients for suicide risk and safety concerns
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary
- Document client progress and treatment outcomes
- Offer psychoeducation to clients and their families
- Advocate for clients' needs and rights
- Engage in continuous professional development
- Utilize telehealth platforms for remote therapy sessions
- Conduct research to inform therapeutic practices
- Employ behavioral and cognitive assessments
- Implement treatment modalities specific to populations such as children or veterans
- Master's or Doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field
- Licensure as a mental health therapist or counselor
- Clinical experience in a mental health setting
- Understanding of diagnostic criteria for mental health disorders
- Capability to develop and execute treatment plans
- Familiarity with ethical and legal considerations in mental health counseling
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
