Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret test requests as they relate to mixing and sample prep requirements. Be able to verify raw material supplies to ensure that requested tests and material requirements can be satisfied.
- Precise weigh up of ingredients for mixing and staging of ingredients to accommodate the mix procedure.
- Follow specified mix procedure, prep and label materials for sample curing.
- Cure press operation and mold loading / curing procedures for each type of testing specimen.
- Ability to conduct the specified specimen conditioning and testing, including static (dumbbell) testing, as well as dynamic testing.
- Gather, report, and communicate test results to chemists / engineers.
- Testing proficiency to include rheometer, mooney viscosity, mooney scorch, tensile and tear (room temp, hot, and after aging), prep and testing of H-block and mandrel pull adhesion tests, compaction factor, and dynamic testing of rubber.
- Additionally, should be proficient in cord and fabric testing methods, including tensile, lase, elongation, thread count and twist level evaluation, adhesion methods, fabric weight and compaction factor.
- Technician will be cross trained on factory technical lab procedures and equipment.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School diploma and 4 years' experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
