SUMMARY OF POSITION

Responsible for preparing and completing bid documents and cost estimates for electrical
construction projects independently and through collaboration. Controls construction costs
by collecting and studying information, evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring
they know what is required to successfully bid and win the project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primary focus is estimating, including security, electrical and low-voltage systems
  • Design build electrical design
  • Prepare detailed electrical estimates based on limited conceptual design information
  • Prepare estimate from quantity take-off and complete estimate to computer printout
  • Identify parts of a project that may be key to making a competitive estimate
  • Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures
  • Assist in estimating system training for new estimators, project managers, and others
as necessary
  • Participate in the value engineering process
  • Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors; solicit and review quotes
  • Draft scope and proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects
  • Collaborate with Project Management at project turnover
  • Participate in Project Site Walks

QUALIFICATIONS

Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
Possess written and verbal communication skills to communicate with vendors, clients,
employees and management
Proven experience managing priorities as workload, deadlines and circumstances change
Experience working effectively as part of a team
Advanced knowledge of blueprints, specifications, and proposals
3-5 years’ construction or electrical estimating experience
Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers
1 year experience onsite project walk throughs
Accubid experience preferred
Accubid data experience preferred

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this role is $100,000-150,000 annual.
