Position Summary:
The CMM Programmer is
responsible for ensuring the precision and accuracy of our manufactured parts
through the programming and operation of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
The CMM Operator supports and promotes plant wide inspection and dimensional
reporting efforts.
Essential Duties:
In keeping with the policies and procedures of the organization, along with all relevant
legislative authority, the CMM Programmer will:
- Review customer testing, measuring, other requirements and ensure that programs are in place to support them.
- Leads and maintains Dimensional Lab and Inspection Process and all required dimensional lab functions.
- Programs and maintains CMM Machine and other measuring equipment and instruments as required.
- Creates CMM measurement programs for part specific layouts, oversees and performs capability studies and maintains, calibrates, and verifies all active fixtures and gauges.
- Maintains and reports on the quality management systems using Process Audits (Layered, Company, Customer required, Control plan audits).
Works with quality team
to ensure timely completion of annual layouts, fixture certifications,
capability studies, Gage R&R and supports other quality functions as
needed.
- Schedule and perform fixture and gage layouts, manage, and oversee internal and external gage calibrations.
- Supports Quality Team and works with employees, suppliers, and customers to produce quality products that meet customer and plant's requirements.
- Collect data and generate layout reports based on collected data using Data Page software or in format specified by customer.
- Supports Corrective Action and Continuous Quality Improvement activities and provides feedback to management and customers.
- Work with Quality Team on SPC data, review dimensional results, and generate reports as required.
- Develop and maintain inspection reports for all Laboratory activities (CMM Layout results, Gage R&R, Capability, SPC, etc.).
- Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to inspect precision components, tooling, and fixtures.
- Develop CMM programs using CAD models, blueprints, and customer specifications.
- Conduct first-article, in-process, and final inspections to verify dimensional accuracy and compliance with engineering standards.
- Analyze CMM measurement data and generate comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and resolve quality issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Support production activities by ensuring all gages, fixtures are functional in proper working order and certified/calibrated.
- Continuously improve inspection processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and quality control.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements in metrology technology, and customer requirements to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain all documented information for all activities as required by the internal procedures and IATF-16949.
- Advise on improvements to the Dimensional Lab and maintain internal Laboratory scope and update as required.
- Responsible for certifying gauges, calipers, and CMM equipment.
Education and/or Experience:
The CMM Programmer will have at least 1 years of Manufacturing experience, combined with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency in CMM programming and operation, with experience using software such as PC-DMIS or similar.
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- Familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes, particularly production stamping press and robotic weld.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to precision and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate inspection results.
- Experience with statistical analysis tools and methodologies is a plus.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality management systems is desirable.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced manufacturing environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Able communicate professionally, verbally and in writing with all levels of team members and customers (if required).
- The ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Pay: $28.02 - $29.90 per hour
