About the Role:
A Mental Health Clinician provides clinical mental health counseling and case management services to patients. They are responsible for counseling patients dealing with mental illnesses, like depression, anxiety, and emotional disorders by providing treatment through counseling and other techniques that will help patients cope with their mental health issues. They are compassionate health professionals who need empathy and strong listening and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
· Must have any of the following levels: Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
· Delivering a range of clinical services to adults with complex social, emotional and behavioral challenges while demonstrating a comprehensive knowledge of behavioral health challenges, mental health symptomatology and presentation, substance use disorder treatment as well as ancillary socio-medical concerns including the following:
a. Administer the District authorized tool to complete a independent need based assessment and person centered service plan for consumers and clients referred as likely having or being at risk of having mental health and substance use disorders and making referrals to behavioral health supportive services such as Supported Employment
b. Assessing clients; participating in the assessment and referral process and making recommendations for treatment
c. Providing brief counseling to clients during assessment as appropriate
d. Coordinating client referral to chosen treatment provider by providing accurate clinical assessment information clinical assessment information
e. Advocating for client needs as pertains to level of care recommendations
f. Delivering services across a spectrum of telehealth modalities, as warranted
g. Entering all required documentation in the electronic medical records system
h. Advising consumers and clients of their rights regarding the release of protected health information; following applicable procedures regarding participant consent/non-consent to release of information obtained from the assessment or screening to CSA or RSA
i. Adheres to all HIPPA, Mental Health Information Act (MHIA) and all applicable regulations relative to confidentiality, release and sharing of protected health information
j. Collaborating with designated DBH, RSA and CSA personnel on an on-going basis to include outreach activities referral processing, and care coordination specific to assessing and managing consumer’s behavioral health needs and supportive services
k. Collaborating with collateral contact to ensure accurate clinical assessment information
l. Providing contract services for Mental Health Clinician during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
· Having knowledge of intake, diagnostic assessment and behavioral health referral process for mental illness and substance use disorder
· Being skilled in biopsychosocial assessments and level of care determination including differential diagnoses
· Having a comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of theories, principles, practices and techniques of clinical work, as evidenced by a master’s degrees in the social sciences to effectively assess patients’ psychosocial functioning make recommendations regarding the resolution of difficult and highly complex problems; implementing clinical intervention services; and developing new methods, approaches, or procedures
· Having knowledge of the rules and regulations regarding confidentiality, release, and sharing of protected health information
· Being able to communicate both orally and in writing to perform assessments, consultation and referrals and to write clear and coherent social histories and reports
· Being able to operate the medical records computer system
· Being able to deliver services across a spectrum of telehealth modalities
· Having a broad knowledge of psychiatric, psychological and medical terminologies and their clinical implications for the evaluation and treatment of adult co-occurring clients in order to serve as a member of the interdisciplinary team and perform work on difficult and highly complex cases
· Having a comprehensive knowledge of community resources and other institutions which serve adult psychiatric patients and their families in order to meet their needs for services and coordinate the provision of services
Candidate Requirements:
· Two (2) years of professional work experience/training as a Licensed Clinician in a Psychiatric, Behavioral Health Treatment or Acute Care setting
· Knowledge of American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) and Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V)
