JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Assistant Commandant of Cadets (Middle School Support)

Position Type: Full-time

Department: Leadership Department Staff

Classification: Exempt

Reports To: Commandant of Cadets

Job Summary
This position is responsible for assisting the Commandant and Deputy Commandant in overall planning, organization, and execution of the Corps of Cadets program. This includes, but is not limited to, serving as an assistant instructor for upper school cadets, parades, ceremonies formations, mentoring cadets, and general appearance of the Cadet Corps. This position is also responsible for the counseling, training, morale, and discipline of Middle School cadets and serves as a Middle School Cadet Liaison. This position is the Corps Operations and Logistics Manager.

Essential Job Duties

1. Responsible to the Commandant for the effective and efficient functioning of the Texas Military Institute Military Corps of Cadets.

2. Responsible for logistics support provided by TMI to the Leadership Program for events such as football games, parades, pass in reviews, social functions and special events.

3. Monitor and update the Leadership Department’s school operational budget.

4. Coordinate Corps requirements and activities with administrative, academic, athletic, and support staff of TMI to ensure responsive support and minimal conflict in use of resources.

5. Assist with the supervision Cadet supply operations through the Battalion S-4 and Deputy Commandant.

6. Serve as the Corps liaison for Middle School in order to support the mission and personal development of our middle school cadets.

7. Provide input on all cadet disciplinary actions and boards and work with the Head of MS for Corps related considerations.

8. Serve as mentor and counselor of Middle School Cadets in conjunction with the Commandant.

9. Responsible for coordination and conduct of issuance and turn-in of Leadership Dept. uniforms and equipment.

10. Responsible for maintaining 100% accountability of all Leadership Department property.

11. Assist with training cadets on drill and ceremony.

12. Assist in the training and execution of Special Teams within the program that will require periodic extended hours in the evening and some weekends.

13. Assistant Parent Volunteers in planning and execution of the Military Ball and other social events.

14. Support the mission of the school and its leadership.

15. Assist the Cadre in upholding the high standards of the Corps of Cadets 130-year history.

Experience/Skills

This position is typically held by either a prior servicemember of rank of E6-E9, WO1-WO3, or O1-O3. Prior or current military service Active Duty, National Guard, or Reserve servicemember of the same rank and experience will also be considered.

1. A working knowledge of logistic, supply, and operational experience required.

2. Ability to learn a system to manage budgetary requirements, process payments, and ensure work orders are completed in a timely manner.

3. Able to provide instruction on basic Drill and Ceremony.

4. Proficient in the use of e-mail and capable of learning use of the Army JROTC and school based online systems.

5. Able to communicate effectively with Cadets, parents, and colleagues.

6. Have the patience, persistence, and sense of humor to mentor 6th through 12th grade cadets on a daily basis.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelors degree.

Physical Requirements

1. Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects.

2. Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, or quickly.

3. Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

4. Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.

5. Visual: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or other materials.

6. Physical: May be required to stand or sit for long periods of time while providing instructions, attending school events, or monitoring students.May have to lift folders, files, papers, equipment, and other such items weighing up to approximately 45 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
