Manufacturing Maintenance Supervisor
OVERVIEW:
The Maintenance Supervisor plays a crucial role in the Cumming, Georgia manufacturing plant by coordinating the installation, maintenance, and repair work. This role involves hands-on leadership, where the supervisor is expected to work closely with their team on the floor, ensuring they are readily available to assist with and resolve any roadblocks that may prevent the team from completing their tasks and is the first line of defense in handling and coordinating plant issues, regardless of time of day. The role manages a team of workers, regularly inspects sites, executes work as necessary, maintains equipment, and assigns workers to various projects. The Maintenance Supervisor should possess strong organizational and time management skills, leadership capability, communication skills, and attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect sites regularly to identify problems and necessary maintenance. Maintain a clean, safe and orderly maintenance area. Ensure regular presence on the floor to proactively identify and address issues.
- Responsible for responding promptly to any plant issues, coordinating and handling them immediately to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
- Oversee preventative maintenance program. Regularly review and adjust program based on feedback from floor activities.
- Collaborate in projects and troubleshooting on the floor alongside the team that would improve the safety and profitable operation of the plant.
- Read and interpret blueprints, understanding pneumatics, hydraulics, electricity, general physics and mechanics
- Train and direct maintenance personnel in the safe and efficient operation of their jobs. Provide expertise to mechanics and machinists as needed. Ensure training is hands-on and provide real-time guidance and support during work activities.
- Prepare monthly/weekly/daily maintenance schedules and allocate work as per forecasted workloads. Schedule work of maintenance personnel to provide maximum machine utilization. Be flexible to adjust schedules based on real-time feedback and challenges observed on the floor.
- Coordinate and schedule the activities of maintenance employees to ensure that maintenance work is performed in accordance with state and federal codes and regulations. Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
- Handles employee relations concerns as needed and in accordance with company policy
- Order, organize and stock maintenance parts, equipment, and supplies
- Authority to stop production in case of non-conform product
- Additional duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School or equivalent required
- 2 years of direct experience as a Maintenance Supervisor/Lead in a manufacturing environment; 5 years of experience desired
- Working knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, building trades, cleaning procedures and maintenance
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and practices
- Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed
- Ability to plan maintenance schedules
- Ability to work well under pressure and meets deadlines
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent supervisory, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Computer literate with capability in email, MS Office and related software
- Time management skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to traverse property and facility to diagnose building issues and plan repairs or maintenance
- Must be physically able to perform repairs when needed
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time
