General maintenance

Job Description

Toft Dairy is currently looking to fill a full-time General Maintenance Technician or General Maintenance Mechanic. The successful candidate for the position will work Monday-Friday with a typical day starting at 7am till approximately 4pm.

We are seeking a permanent employee who after the 60 probationary period will be eligible for an increase in pay based on job performance and medical insurance coverage (Medical Mutual).

After 90 days employees are offered supplemental insurance elections for vision and dental, etc. Additionally, team members are eligible for the 401K retirement plan day one with a company match after 6 months of employment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES :

• Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities both regular and preventative, scheduled and unplanned
• Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
• Diagnosing mechanical problems, replacing or repairing parts, testing and making adjustments as necessary

General Experience & Knowledge :

• Comply with all safety regulations and workplace rules and company policies
• OSHA requirements as they pertain to daily activities
• General and day-to-day housekeeping of plant and grounds
• Operate forklift and hydraulic working platforms as needed
• Support and assist with additional duties as assigned by supervisor and / or management

PERSONAL Traits and Skills :

• Minimum 3-5 years maintenance experience with a high school diploma or GED is required
• Experience in food manufacturing or related field is desired
• Strong math, reading, communication and organizational skills
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude
• Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion
• Individually motivated; team player and problem solver
• Reliable, Accountable and Punctual

PHYSICAL Requirements :

• Must be able to go up and down platform stairs and ladders; stand, walk, kneel and bend
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to work in a wet environment and occasionally go into the freezers
• May occasionally be exposed to chemicals
• Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime and holidays as required; occasional weekends
