ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW:

Visit Big Sky (VBS) is the official destination management and marketing organization for the Greater Big Sky Area, which includes the Big Sky Resort Area District (BSRAD), and the area twenty miles north and twenty miles south of the Big Sky intersection. VBS was established in February 2013 as a 501(c)(6) nonprofit, membership organization. In December 2017, VBS became the fiscal sponsor for the State of Montana-designated Big Sky Convention & Visitor Bureau (CVB) which was previously under the Big Sky Chamber of Commerce. As a result, VBS is a public-private partnership representing Montana Lodging Facility Use Tax (4%) dollars, local Big Sky Resort Tax Board allocated funds, and private business investment in support of tourism development, marketing and promotion to drive economic development in Big Sky. In addition, VBS oversees the Big Sky & Greater Yellowstone Visitor Information Center (VIC).

Open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, the VIC welcomes an estimated 3,000 visitors each summer season.

Tourism in Montana is the second largest contributor to the state's economy, and the #1 driving force behind Big Sky's economy. In 2018, Montana played host to more than 12.4 million non-resident travelers who spent upwards of $3.7 billion, directly supported 59,330 jobs statewide, and generated $230 million in state and local taxes according to the Institute for Tourism and Recreation Research.
