Underwriting Assistant Employment Practices Liability (EPLI)
The Underwriting Assistant is responsible for administering the day-to-day activities of the specialty insurance policies and contracts. They will work closely with other employees in the department and will report to the Underwriting Support Supervisor.
Performance Objectives:
- Data Entry: Understand and retrieve relevant information from a policy in order to accurately calculate premiums and entry coverage.
- Policy Analysis: Maintain policy files and update records/premiums as needed, which would include verifying accuracy of invoices received by brokers.
- Underwriter Support: Support underwriters in quoting and servicing accounts in an accurate and timely manner, within level of expertise, utilizing manuals, company policies, reference material, etc., as needed. Assist in the evaluation of renewals by collecting updated application information, updated loss and premium data, and checking exposures, values, rates, etc., as directed by Underwriting.
- Broker communication: Correspond with brokers through email/phone to resolve payment discrepancies or request further coverage information.
Expectations:
- Within the first 30 days, familiarize with TMHCC’s policies and procedures
- Within the first 60 days, get familiarized with the system
- Within the first year, as an integral part of EPL Group, foster effective relationships with underwriters and brokers and support department initiatives.
Education / Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience.
- This is an entry-level position; internship(s) in business or a related area preferred.
- Possess and have the ability to apply basic knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
- Good written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
- Good organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
