Overview
This position is responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the efficient and accurate paying and receiving function and sales and service function of the branch according to Bank policies and procedures. The position also oversees security and compliance within the unit; insuring department compliance with all operating policies and procedures and communicating with appropriate personnel. This position performs the duties of both a Teller and a Customer Service Representative.
Responsibilities
- Serves Customers at an assigned teller station by processing a variety of transactions in accordance with company procedure including but not limited to: Accepting checks for cashing, accepts checking and savings deposits, makes withdrawals, accepts and processes various payments (i.e. mortgage, loan, club, etc), maintains an approved level of cash, sells money orders, redeems bonds, processes night and mail deposits, sign Bank Official Checks within authorized limits.
- Performs balancing and upkeep of branch and responsible offsite ATM(s) when required.
- Assists customers by answering questions and obtaining specialized services from other bank departments, referring only extraordinary items to appropriate supervisor for approval.
- Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other company personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
- Completes the documentation and performs point-of-sale processing on all types of new accounts, e.g. loans, deposits, etc.
- Solicits new business from present and prospective customers, maintains ongoing business relationships with present customers in order to take advantage of additional cross-selling opportunities. Maintains an awareness of new business opportunities with customers, actively referring customers to appropriate customer service personnel, as warranted.
- Provides sales information on a timely basis in order that this information may be included as part of monthly and year-to-date sales performance reports.
- Provides safe deposit box services to customers.
- Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank products and services.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Provides periodic reports to the Teller Supervisor and other unit supervisors, appropriate groups or individuals.
- May require Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) registration to assist with the consumer and residential lending process.
- May act as a supervisor on duty, in the absence of the Assistant Branch Manager and/or Branch Manager
- Works Saturdays, as required. May open and close branch, office and/or vaults, under dual control. Sets alarms, as necessary.
- May fill in at any of the other company branch locations, as required.
- May support team, as required.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related role (customer service/sales). Banking experience highly preferred.
- Proficient reading, writing, grammar, mathematical and problem solving skills.
- Proficient in sales process; including recognizing and suggesting products and achieving referral goals.
- Strong interpersonal relations and communication skills (oral and written). Ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrated strong customer service skills.
- Ability to operate various office machines; proficient eye-hand coordination; visual and auditory skills.
