Summary:
The Controller will be a senior manager directing the company's accounting, financial and administrative departments.
This role will oversee about 8 staff members and be responsible for the company's financial policies, programs and practices.
Strategic vision, ability to work in ambiguity and development and adoption of best practices will be important for this role.
Duties include formulating policies and procedures for the Accounting Department, maintaining cash flow and budget for the company, P&L and cost analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees all financial functions including accounting, budgeting, insurance, cash management, and participates in the corporate strategic planning process.
Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses and earnings based on past, present and expected operations.
Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
Prepares and maintains month end financial analysis packages.
Individual directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
Prepares covenant compliance reporting package ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Prepares and maintains Company’s financial policies and procedures.
Preparation of financial summaries for management review.
Risk Management.
Co-ordination of business planning and budgeting; ongoing forecasting and projections.
General performance reporting and operational performance measurement.
Education and experience:
A bachelor's degree in accounting, business or related field and five (5) years' general experience in the Accounting field
OR
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Master of Business Administration (MBA) is highly preferrable. CPA or other similar designation is highly preferrable.
Additional qualifications or skills:
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations; ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity analysis required.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Advanced computer skills in word processing software, spreadsheet software, accounting software and inventory software required.
