- We have been fortunate to have operated an award-winning, highly rated, unique, and successful dog walking company since 2004. The mission of Top Dog SF is to take dogs living in San Francisco and bring them out to a natural environment. We have a camp near Montara that is private, safe, and secure. The only dogs there are our Top Dog SF dogs and the only people there are Top Dog SF employees. The camp is fenced in for security, maintained for safety, and has access to toys that will enable safe and monitored play.
The position:
- Outdoor Doggy Daycamp Attendant
- Our Doggie Shuttle Drivers spend about 60% of their time picking up our doggie clients on a pre-planned route, driving a company van/shuttle to and from our private dog ranch in Montara.
- Dog Walking is 30% of the day being spent dog walking, exercising, and socializing at the ranch.
- Additional admin tasks such as social media and prep work account for 10% of their time.
- Employees drive our company vans, transporting up to 15 dogs to and from the camp. The company pays for all fuel, insurance, and maintenance costs.
- All of our dog walkers are certified through Top Dog SF's Dog Walker University within their first two months of hire, which can benefit you the rest of your life!
Compensation / Benefits:
- $20 - $22 / hour *(depending upon experience)
- Most employees work about 30-35 hours a week ($2100 - $2500 monthly), Monday through Friday from either 8 am to 3 pm or 9 am to 4 pm (no shifts required on evenings, weekends, or on holidays).
- Paid time off that is accrued once onboarding is completed.
- Mileage reimbursement if you use your own vehicle (you also do not need to own a vehicle for this position).
- Monthly data reimbursement for cell phone usage.
- Client referral, employee referral, and performance bonuses.
- Health stipend may be available after 3 months.
Job Duties Include:
- Pick up, drop off and transport dogs in a company vehicle.
- Walk/exercise, and return dogs home safely, professionally, and timely.
- Safe driving and accident-free animal transport.
- Keep supervisor informed of anything important that arises during the day (good or bad).
- Provided updated status/training report on each dog at the end of each day in our client portal.
- Check-in and out of the office daily.
- Check-in and out of clients’ homes daily through a mobile app.
- Ensure dog’s safety and health at all times while in our care: while in transport and at the doggie ranch.
- Keep vehicle clean and organized. Report any safety issues immediately.
- Regular Social Media posts and daily report cards for our pups.
Ideal candidates:
- Reliable, punctual candidates that place safety as the number one priority
- Willing to learn and understand our philosophies about breeds, temperaments, and dog behavior
- Capable drivers who ideally have been working and driving in San Francisco or other urban areas (comfortable with traffic, larger vehicles, city parking, hills, and wet weather).
- Exhibit great customer service skills
- Excellent team players that can work independently
- Have a passion for dogs and all of the things that makes each dog unique
Job Requirements:
- A valid California Driver's License (Class C) with 5 years of city driving experience. No violations or accidents with a clean driving record.
- All employees must be able to check-in and out daily at our office located in the Inner Sunset District of San Francisco.
- Candidates must be available Monday to Friday from 8am to 3pm or 9am to 4pm.
- The majority of tasks assigned will require you to walk or stand on your feet for several hours per day, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, walk up and down stairs; handle extra small and/or large dogs, and be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Comfortable working with up to 15 dogs in a secure outdoor environment at the same time
- Clients often request feedings, removing and returning their dogs from a crate, puppy pad replacements, and litter box cleanings
- Capable of working in an environment with traffic, the public, outdoor environments (rain, wind, sunshine, cooler weather), and barking
- You may be exposed to solvents, disinfectants, sanitation chemicals, animal dander, saliva, urine, feces, animal teeth, and claws may contact hands, skin, and clothing
- You have previous customer service experience and are capable of communicating with clients, staff, and vendors in both written and spoken English
- You are capable of working with little supervision
- You have the patience and empathy to work with puppies and other animals with special needs and requirements (medical and behavioral concerns)
- You must own a smartphone (iOS or Android) with the ability to run our scheduling software (using data and GPS as needed)
- You can wear tennis shoes to work, never wear a tie but you must be prepared for a day working outdoors in a natural environment with groups of happy and excited dogs.
- We will ask for three professional references (we would prefer former managers) in the invite to a virtual interview (the next step in the process).
