We are looking for managers that exude hospitality by anticipating the needs of our guests and move effortlessly through the rewards and challenges of supporting and developing their staff. We appreciate individuals with excellent communication skills that are just as hungry to improve the efficiency and bottom line of their business as they are to meet the needs of our guests. While early mornings are a must, late-night hours can be a thing of the past – all cafes are closed by 7pm!

This is a wild time to be looking for new employment. We're utilizing best practices and have strict guideline measures in place in our cafes. While we're excited for a future of guests seated at tables, we remain to-go only at this time. Top Pot will provides gloves and plexi-glass protectors at all cafes and masks available for those that do not wish to use their own. We strive to exceed guidelines and utilize best practices in sanitation and for safety.

Summary:

This position is responsible for managing a Top Pot Doughnuts Café, engaged in selling and preparing doughnuts, espresso drinks, sandwiches, pastries and general lines of merchandise. This position is also responsible for the overall upkeep of the facility, and the bottom line profitability of the café, by performing the following duties personally and then through subordinate supervisors.

Applicants must:

  • Be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays and early mornings.
  • Have experience scheduling & labor management.
  • Demonstrates a customer focused, customer first, attitude.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn P.O.S. system for cashiering duties.
  • Have experience supervising employees during assigned shifts this including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and evaluating wages; recognition and discipline; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Be adept at tone-setting & moderating stress management.
  • Be an effective and considerate communicator up and down the ladder.
  • Basic computer literacy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve customers, take orders and help where needed. Regularly working 4 to 5 counter shifts per week.
  • Use a “Guest First” decision making process to guarantee the best possible customer service at all times.
  • Manage employees to ensure café is running efficiently
  • Prepare work schedules and assign employees to specific duties.
  • Maintain and issue employees’ keys and vendor log in/passwords as needed. Maintain corresponding logs to track such information.
  • Adhere to and reinforce Top Pot policies, procedures and training guidelines.
  • Provide initial and ongoing training and coaching, communicating regularly with staff.
  • Deliver regular reviews for all direct reports.
  • Document performance or behavior concerns of employees via written write-ups, coaching documentation and/or goal setting.
  • Ensure compliance of employees with established security, sales, and recordkeeping procedures and practices.
  • Implement proper health, safety and sanitation guidelines and addresses any concerns immediately.
  • Determine and sets doughnut par levels; ensure adjustments as needed; monitor supply daily and coordinates effort to replenish when quantities are low.
  • Determine and set par levels for all other stock for sales; ensures adjustments as needed. i.e. dry goods.
  • Produce weekly reports monitoring labor costs, sales, doughnut waste and café highlights.
  • Schedule, attend and participate in regular Café Managers meetings.
  • Conduct regular crew meetings at own café.
  • Ensure vendor orders are submitted, stock is rotated and items are labeled appropriately.
  • Ensure the dining area, condiment bar, front and back counters, patio, restrooms, storage rooms, offices and all pathways and/or parking lots, leading to and from the café, are clean and organized.
  • Monitor product quality at all times; reports product quality issues to appropriate department immediately.
  • Works many holidays predictably resulting in increased customer traffic (examples: National Doughnut Day, Valentine’s Day, day after Thanksgiving).
  • Answer customer's complaints or inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Address all equipment and building maintenance issues immediately and communicates with necessary parties to coordinate necessary repair. This includes point of sale and computers operating correctly.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance logs for all equipment
  • Follow all cash handling procedures and trains crew members accordingly.
  • Prepare daily deposits.
  • Conduct end of month duties including inventory and is responsible for resolving questions in a timely manner.
  • Locks and secures café.
  • Community outreach to build our presence and relationship with neighbors and local businesses and nonprofit organizations.
  • Ensure the constantly moving demands of the café are being met through clear, effective communication with employees, customers, vendors and management.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

The work environment is a typical coffee shop setting and this position is constantly working in front of a large espresso machine. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat (non-weather). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Employees working at a café with a drive thru may be exposed to both heat and cold (weather related). Safe use of common cleaning agents, such as bleach, can be expected.

The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
