Position Overview
Reporting To: Machinery Manufacturing Manager
This role involves designing electrical control systems for heat seal packaging machinery from start to finish. Below are the key responsibilities and qualifications:
Responsibilities
Design & Development:
Develop machine controls for heat seal packaging machinery.
Design electrical schematics using AutoCAD or equivalent software.
Create electrical enclosure panel layouts using AutoCAD or similar software.
Develop machine controls Bill of Materials using Syteline ERP system.
Testing & Integration:
Test and debug electrical control circuits.
Integrate various inkjet, laser, or robotic systems.
Program machine control components, including A-B PLC’s, HMI’s, etc.
Project Management:
Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Assist in developing machine manuals and quoting needs.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work effectively with engineering and assembly departments.
Perform final machinery checks to verify system functionality.
Provide customer support via phone, during factory acceptance visits, and for other issues.
Offer technical assistance to machine assembly and sales as needed.
Communicate project progress, goal achievement, and customer expectations to the department manager.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
Experience with Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming is essential.
Experience with designing, testing, and troubleshooting industrial equipment with electro-mechanical components (e.g., relays, motor starters, temperature controllers).
Technical Skills:
Proficient in AutoCAD or equivalent software for electrical design.
Familiarity with electronic test instrumentation.
Basic computer skills, including file processing, email, web navigation, and MS Office.
Ability to adapt to new machine control software and update as needed.
Experience with programming other types of PLCs (e.g., Omron) and HMIs is a plus.
Interpersonal Skills:
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Team-oriented with a positive attitude.
Additional Experience
One year of relevant experience, including co-ops and internships, is acceptable.
