Description:

The Sawmill Head Saw Filer in Arizona will ensure all safety procedures are being taught and followed by staff, maintenance of the filing, grinding, and sharpening equipment, assisting in the sharpening of the Company's knives, circle saws, and band saws, ensuring guides are maintained, the set up and maintenance of the production equipment:

• Planers
• Moulders
• The timely delivery of saws & knives to the millwrights for the:
  • Rip saw machine center
  • Gang saw machine center
  • Resaw machine centers
  • Chipper

Requirements:

• A minimum of ten years experience wood planer manufacturing experience.
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to manage several assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Ability to self-direct and prioritize workflow.
• Grading knowledge of boards and industrial lumber products.
• High achiever who demands quality work, is efficient, and constantly striving to improve performance.
• MS Office computer skills preferred.
• Must be a legal US resident. Unfortunately, there is no visa sponsorship offered for this role.
• Proven success at prior planer / wood manufacturing operations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong technical knowledge of sharpening / grinding technology, equipment and machinery.
• Team oriented leader, engage others in decision making process.

Responsibilities:

• The Planer/Moulder Senior Filer will ensure staff are trained to and will assist with the operation and maintenance of the planer and moulder.
• Conducting preventative maintenance, repair, installation, and modification of planer equipment.
• Observing Planer Machine Operation
• Safely and efficiently setting up, lubricating, and cleaning machine
• Cleaning and sharpening knives
• Maintaining a high standard to produce highest quality possible ant the maximum production rate safely.
• Ensuring proper planer and moulder surfacing to minimize skip dressing and address all wavy dressing immediately
• Completing daily planer PM checklist
• Providing management feedback about machine issues.
• The Senior Filer will ensure staff are trained to and will assist in grinding knives to chipper specifications
• working with millwrights set knives in the chipper heads.
• The Senior Filer will ensure staff are trained to and will assist in sharpening blades to specification
• working with millwrights to ensure machine is set up properly.
• The Senior Filer will ensure staff are trained to and will assist in sharpening band saw blades to specification working with millwrights to ensure machine is set up properly.
• Training and supervision of the filing / grinding / sharpening staff.
