SUMMARY
Responsible for performing complex accounting duties related to lease accounting and provides significant expertise to departmental/field management. Operates in a customer-focused shared-services environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in the month end close process with accounting and finance teams including preparation of journal entries, account recs and AP payment processing
- Perform and monitor internal controls to ensure accurate and timely administration, compliance, and reporting for tax, general ledger, and management reporting purposes.
- Partner with real estate team to update our lease accounting software for the impacts of real estate and equipment lease modifications and renewals including performing the lease classification test and reasonably certain analysis
- Become the owner of branch movements/changes related to leased locations and develop standardized lease reporting for the field
- Act as liaison between real estate and business unit accounting teams and assist with the preparation and compilation of quarterly requests for internal and external auditors
- Assist with implementation of complex lease integrations as well as development and maintenance of standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with SOX and GAAP (ASC 842)
- Implement ongoing process and control efficiencies; optimize lease accounting software to its fullest potential.
- Builds strong working relationships with real estate team, fleet, business unit accounting teams, FP&A, tax, operations and other departments within TopBuild support services; performs research and provides analysis on an ad-hoc basis.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Minimum Degree: BS/BA in Accounting
- Course of study: NA
- Special Certification or Licensing: CPA preferred
- Special Requirements: NA
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum experience: 1-2 years lease accounting under ASC842 for a public company and/or auditor for a public company involved in leasing activities
- Legal Age Requirements: At least 18 years of age

POSITION LOCATION: This is a hybrid working model with 3 days onsite at our office in Daytona Beach, FL.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in a typical office environment and may require standing, bending, lifting of boxes or packages under 10 lbs., and sitting for long periods of time.
Work requires regularly inputting/retrieving words or data into or from an automated/computer system.
