As we continue to grow, we need a UI/UX Designer to plan, design, develop and test user interfaces and user experience components for our websites, mobile, desktop and unique device applications. You will join an established, multidisciplinary global design team with the mission to grow the design culture of the business. In your role you will be involved in determining the complete UI package from mapping out workflow – through to concept design and down to the detail of UI element design, control behaviours and dialog box layout. About You: Evaluative design research – experience conducting qualitative research (i.e. observations, interviews, focus groups, usability testing) and quantitative research (i.e. data, A/B testing), in order to test, learn & iterate Information architecture – you have strong experience carrying out IA research and arranging functionality and content into easy to understand and use structures Ideation – you have experience in using collaborative ideation techniques to creating interfaces for large-scale websites or applications Task and customer flows – you can systematically break down complex processes to create coherent, seamless experiences Rationale – you have the ability to translate research insights into solid design solutions and provide strong rationale for the design decisions made Prototyping Implementation– highly proficient with design and prototyping tools and have the ability to craft functional, easy-to-use and detailed digital layouts with a range of software (e.g. Adobe XD, Figma) Some cross-over into Visual design – have an eye for great visual design. Understanding of front end or native mobile technologies – e.g. web (HTML/JS frameworks) and mobile (iOS/Android). Your day to day duties: Define the user experience (UX) for new products and features within our core web, mobile, and desktop applications Execute the UI/UX design process end-to-end, which involves understanding our users and their problems, collaborating on solutions, prototyping ideas and testing them Advocate for the user during the development process using data gathered from research Deliver UI/UX mock-ups and prototypes using tools of choice, such as Adobe XD or Figma Design and layout UI elements when required, using the relevant tools to construct engaging, user-centred workflows Collaborate with other designers and contribute to the growth of the UX discipline within Topcon Skills & Experience: 3 or more years of experience and proven track record. Experience as a UI Visual Designer with UX/CX skills and experience Ability to speak about your designs with clarity and conviction Strong understanding of how to effectively employ the design processes Experience working in an Agile environment with design sprints Hands-on experience creating wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, etc. Understanding of basic front-end languages Creative ideas with a problem-solving mindset. Strong typography, layout, and visual design skills. Experience across website, Windows, Linux, IOS and Android Working knowledge of industry tools: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Figma, XD. Working knowledge of the ideation and creation of UI design deliverables: Sitemaps, user flows, wireframes, lo-fi and hi-fi layouts, prototypes. Working knowledge of responsive design and grid principles. Other skills ‘Pixel-perfect’ attention to detail Strong communication and teamwork skills. Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks. Knowledge of responsive design and mobile UI. Knowledge of designing UI for use in critical outdoor environments A Bachelor’s degree in Human Computer Interaction, Information Design, Graphic Design, or equivalent field.
