Position Title: Director of Accounting
Location: Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid Role)
Starting Pay for position: $140,000 base per year

Position Summary:
At Herff Jones we may have been around for 100 years, but we still have the mentality of a scrappy startup. For you, that means your job may grow and change over time. As the Director of Accounting, you will oversee the financial reporting, technical accounting issues, centralized corporate & plant accounting, fixed assets, lease accounting and inventory costing / controls.

The role includes but is not limited to the following challenges:

• Oversight of the preparation/initial review of the monthly financial statements and trends to ensure completeness/accuracy.
• Provide Corp Op unit level detailed variance analysis.
• Ensure team performs assigned reconciliations timely, completely and accurately.
• Identify technical accounting issues and problem resolution on significant transactions.
• Assist VP of Accounting with the development and implementation of accounting policies and internal controls
• Hiring, training, supervision, development, motivation, and evaluation of staff members.
• Lead and execute on special products as needed within accounting as well as across the company.
• Ensure close process and mapping is in accordance with LSC (holding company) policy.
• Oversight of year end audit requirements from LSC (holding company).
• Subject matter expert for system enhancements and implementations.
• Drive change and improvements to support a shorter close cycle and continuous close efforts. Including reconciliation refinement.
• Assist with the accounting activities across all plants, including but not limited to raw material, labor and overhead standards update and physical inventory audit support as well as plant specific policies and procedures.
• Ownership of intercompany process with LSC (holding company).
• Oversight of regulatory agency reporting requirements, i.e., census reports, RFQ financials, etc.….
• Special projects as initiated by the VP of Accounting and the CFO.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

• 5 years of progressive accounting and management experience in plant and corporate accounting.
• 3 years of accounting management experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA license is preferred.
• Establish strong relationships with purchasing and work collaboratively cross-functionally.
• History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done.
• Possess an elevated level of integrity. Communicate directly and truthfully, with strong ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.
• Demonstrate an elevated level of organization and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Customer service oriented with an ability to partner with the different functions of the business.
• Ability to think creatively, innovatively, and strategically in making recommendations to management.
