TOPS is looking for a Director of Accounting Services to join our team!
As a company, we not only offer the industry’s best all-in-one technology solution for property management, we also offer accounting services for clients who want to have an expert assisting with their financials. Our clients include the management teams for HOAs and self-managed communities.
That’s where you come in. The team providing accounting services needs a Director. In this role, you will manage the daily operations of leading staff members, preparing financial statements, managing client relations, and providing senior level accounting support for client and staff as needed.
This role is in-office in our Mission Viejo, CA office. This role will report to the VP of Financial Services and have 8 direct reports, including Accountants, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Accounting Clerks.

What you’ll do
- Prepare financial statements for clients
- Provide senior accounting support for staff and clients
- Know and adhere to laws and regulations and enforce company fiscal policy
- Hire and manage staff, including reviews and day-to-day performance. Ensure workload and resources are appropriate
- Manage client relations and address escalated issues staff cannot resolve
- Assist as needed with annual budget preparation, special assessment planning and any other accounting or financial needs
You should have
- BA in Accounting/Business Administration/other suitable field of study OR demonstrated knowledge through equivalent work experience
- 5 years of accounting experience, that shows growth and includes managing direct report(s)
- Excellent mathematical and analysis skills
- Ability to lead and train departments and individuals
- Verbal and written communication skills to create reports and present them to others
- Knowledge of analysis and financial software
- Ability to create and deliver unbiased budget expectations for different departments
- Willing to travel occasionally
