What are the responsibilities and job description for the LRSO Design Engineer position at Torch Technologies, Inc.?
Torch Technologies is seeking a technology professional to provide advisory and assistance services in support of a DOD ACAT I program at Eglin AFB, FL. A successful candidate will have a history of flight test experience. The LRSO program office needs an experienced technically minded individual to help ensure flight tests are appropriately planned and resourced. The selected candidate will be responsible to write/review test plans to ensure appropriate methods are used to measure desired performance parameters. The selectee will work in a team of diverse backgrounds and will learn multiple aspects of each test to ensure all stakeholder needs are met. The selectee will review and provide feedback on various handling and support equipment designs. Lastly, a successful candidate will be able to present on all of these subjects and lead meetings on the subjects as needed.
The U.S. Air Force is developing a new LRSO nuclear missile. The service plans to field the LRSO by 2030 to replace the current, General Dynamics (now Raytheon) AGM-129A Advanced Cruise Missile (ACM) that originally entered service in 1991. In May 2021, the Air Force awarded an Engineering and Manufacturing Design (EMD) contract to Raytheon Missiles and Defense, Tucson, Arizona. The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) Nuclear Weapons Acquisition Division (AFNWC/NDB), which is resident at Eglin AFB, Florida, is the System Program Office (SPO) responsible for the acquisition.

Role and Responsibilities:
- Write/review test plans, procedures, and reports.
- Provide technical feedback on the necessary measurements/tools/processes to successfully design/create support equipment tools and processes to handle cruise missiles.
- Work with a team of various skills/backgrounds to develop test events and ensure stakeholder needs are met by the design and execution of various ground and flight tests.
- Present designs, plans, and procedures to gain approval from leadership to proceed with testing.
- Present test results to stakeholders and provide interpretation of the results.
- Must have advanced programs experience.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and have a current DoD Secret Clearance and must be Top Secret eligible. Must maintain clearance at required level.
- Must have 5 years of experience.
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field is desired.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field is required.
