Shipping/Receiving Warehouse Associate

We are looking for a high energy go getter to add to our Shipping/Receiving Warehouse team. This position’s responsibilities include assisting in tracking inventory levels, handling all aspects of shipping and receiving, and keeping accurate records. On the shipping side, you will schedule trucks, prepare BOLs, provide freight quotes, process package shipments, prepare tracking reports, and handle delivery issues. Receiving responsibilities include comparing bills of lading against actual merchandise received, inspecting for damaged goods and, once approved, distributing merchandise to the correct departments.

Shipping/Receiving Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determines method of shipment and prepares bills, invoices and other shipping documents
  • Performs final QC check on all orders for accuracy and adherence to specifications prior to shipping.
  • Receives merchandise - checks and signs delivery slips and assists with unloading.
  • Inspects and verifies incoming goods against invoices or other documents, records shortages and rejects damaged goods.
  • Accepts or returns merchandise according to established company procedures. Calculates prices according to guidelines, and affixes bar codes, prices, and security tags as necessary.
  • Organizes distribution and shipping of merchandise. Makes necessary verifications against documents, unpacks and routes goods to appropriate storage areas. Handles customer pick-ups.
  • Operates forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport and store goods.
  • Maintains internal record-keeping systems.
  • Contacts resource people for various information. Contacts transport companies and suppliers in order to expedite, trace or return merchandise that does not conform to specifications or purchase orders.
  • Assembles containers and crates, packs goods to be shipped and prepares identifying information and shipping instructions.
  • Knows safe storage and handling procedures for various chemicals and materials.
  • Knows proper shipping procedures for transportation of temperature sensitive items
  • Takes inventory, maintains storage area, organizes and places stock on shelves. Ensures area is secure at all times.

Food Safety Responsibilities:

· Comply with all Plant, State and Federal, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations.

· Performs verification of HACCP, SSOP, and production records to assure products adhere to food safety and product quality requirements. Obtains corrective actions in a timely manner and explanations for incorrectly reported information.

· Take corrective action whenever review of records indicates non-conformance to food safety requirements and/or product quality specifications, including placing products on hold and ensuring all appropriate actions are taken and properly documented.

· Observes applicable production activities such as ingredient storage, batch preparation, cooking, cooling, and packaging to assure consistency and conformance to standards. During these observations verify conformance to GMP’s and allergen control programs through daily monitoring.

· Address Sanitation and GMP deviations on an immediate and ongoing basis and assist in the training and development of production personnel in these key areas.

· Conduct verification activities to assure finished product comply with food safety and quality specifications.

· Participates in the yearly review of the food safety system.

· Assist in the maintenance of Food Safety and Quality system.

Qualifications:

· Previous Shipping/Receiving Experience

Must be able to read/write proficiently in English. Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus!

· Ability to lift up to 50lb safely and without injury to self-and/or others

· Forklift experience a must

· Basic computer skills – Outlook, Excel, Word

· Experience using computerized inventory control systems.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
