Job Description
This position performs routine administrative duties such as greeting the public, answering the phone, filing, maintaining records, and communicating with other law enforcement agencies and court personnel. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Maintain records for arrests, inmate files and incident crash reports.
Submit citations and reports to the State of New Mexico; at district, municipal and Magistrate levels.
Processes criminal and civil court documents for process of service.
Prepares a schedule and arranges for transports of prisoners for deputy"s; both for court and extradition.
Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
Generate correspondence and complete documents with a high degree of accuracy.
Communicate with other law enforcement agencies and courts.
Retrieve and enter information from various computer systems.
Research information from files, computer records and other documents for specific requests.
Release information and documents in accordance with the Public Information Act and other applicable laws and procedures.
Forward/provide police reports to district attorney, defendants, victims, and other government agencies.
Maintain logs and records to ensure proper and accurate tracking of case files.
Catalog and categorize statistics according to criteria for reporting.
Respond to a variety of requests for information concerning records.
Interact with the public by phone or in person in a polite and professional manner.
File detailed and accurate reports related to job function.
Must perform all duties with minimal supervision. May be required to attend job-related meetings or trainings, and perform other duties as assigned.
Must be able to apply written and oral communication skills in accomplishing a variety of tasks.
Must be able to apply organization skills in the coordination of ordering and maintaining inventory of supplies needed for records.
And other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED Required.
Valid New Mexico Driver"s License.
Two years office experience.
Prior work in law enforcement preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to work in Microsoft and Adobe programs.
Ability to learn and effectively work in RMS, Tyler Parallels and other various reporting programs as required.
Ability to type, write, generate correspondence, and comprehend instructions.
Proficient in basic math: add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
