At Toscana they enjoy two dining experiences, Il Forno Trattoria and Lounge for elegant and intimate dining and a more relaxed dining experience at La Cucina that includes a lounge, covered terrace and display kitchen
The Position
The Banquet Captain is responsible for managing the banquet service for members and guests in the dining room. Supervises banquet staff; greets and seats guests; maintains order and cleanliness; assures that member satisfaction standards are consistently attained.
The Essential Duties of the Job
· Receives and greets members and guests at banquets.
· Suggests and describes available appetizers, entrees, desserts, alcoholic beverages and wines to members and guests.
· Coordinates food service between kitchen and service staff.
· Provide leadership and training to banquet staff
· Supervises the setup of banquet facilities and inspects linens for proper appearance.
· Resolves member/guest requests and issues.
· Assures that all safety, accident and emergency policies and procedures
are in place and consistently followed.
· Inspects dining room to ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness and safety.
· Suggests dining room decorations for special themes.
· Manages the guest reservation system.
· Assists with service of food and beverages when needed.
· Assists with table clearing and resetting of room as needed.
· Suggests when additional service supplies and small equipment are needed.
· Enforces established rules, regulations and policies.
· Acts as Dining Room Manager in the absence of the manager.
· Assists in dining room inventory assessments.
· Other duties may be assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
Assists the Food & Beverage Director in supervising Banquet service staff.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3 - 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Comprehension and Communication Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members, guests or employees of organization.
Computer Skills
Must also be proficient in all Microsoft applications and Jonas software experience is an added advantage.
